tekzer0 | Can anyone tell me why suddenly my opnsense cant update/communicate to find updates, yet everything else works just fine? Also maybe a fix? | 06:39:38 |
tekzer0 | Plus how to get to settings for tailscale. Went from pfsense to opnsense, tailscale worked alright at first without doing anything, now not.. | 06:40:46 |
RymdLord | Q. Does anyone know a tutorial for setting up FreeRadius? Also if there is one that shows how to do LDAP that would be awesome! | 06:47:37 |

Hey Royal Tiger, sorry my friend I been busy, I went back to default settings for my router-behind-router homenetwork setup still haven't been able to get connection to update firmware. Im at work right now but will possibly try tonight again on fresh default settings. If not tomorrow. | 16:38:16 |
tasheers | In reply to @rymdlord:matrix.org Q. Does anyone know a tutorial for setting up FreeRadius? Also if there is one that shows how to do LDAP that would be awesome! there is a short documentation in Opnsense page here: https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/how-tos/freeradius.html
Apart from that pfsense also has some documentation here: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/packages/freeradius.html There are also some links available if you look at the right side section.

DwemerRoot | Are there any alternatives to Pi-hole that you can run in plugins on your Opnsense router? | 19:18:08 |
rantwolf | AdguardHome | 19:30:30 |
El chupa nibre (They/Them) | there's not ad adguard plugin specifically for opnsense afaict. you could install it as a normal bsd package if you're comfortable with that. I was thinking about the same thing recently and your question reminded me to go look. The closest thing I see is you could pull pihole blacklists into the Unbound DNS service and enable that. | 19:32:10 |

If you have a decent powerful router using Opsense Unbound DNS like this should be ok you think? Is there any easy way to get all of the Pi-hole black list, link maybe? | 20:26:32 |
El chupa nibre (They/Them) | The pihole admin area will show you what lists it's using. I don't know if you can slurp those urls right into unbound but it might work. Re: "decently powerful" I don't think adding Unbound will tax your device appreciably regardless of the hardware, certainly not for a home install. If this is a medium-large enterprise, maybe don't run DNS on a Pi 😄 | 20:29:10 |

El chupa nibre (They/Them) | For dns ad-blocking, I run pihole on my kubernetes cluster, but I'm interested in moving that function to my opnsense router like you are | 20:36:08 |
DwemerRoot | In reply to @sud0er:matrix.org For dns ad-blocking, I run pihole on my kubernetes cluster, but I'm interested in moving that function to my opnsense router like you are oh ok, Im still kinda new to Opnsense, I been trying to absorb alot in a little of time. Kubernetes cluster is that kinda like proxmox? Also I was thinking of running Pi-hole on my proxmox on my old laptop connecting that to my Opsense FW box. Not sure if thats a good idea or not. | 21:02:50 |

DwemerRoot | In reply to @sud0er:matrix.org Kubernetes is like if you combine docker-compose and systemd and spread it across multiple machines and removed none of the drama Oh ok, Yeah im still learning Linux, I want to learn about Docker too. But I really wanted to get my networking down right on Opsense. I'm trying to set up my AP to work in the VLAN. | 21:14:43 |

instrumental_only | In reply to @royaltiger:matrix.org Tried to change the update instance? RoyalTiger: Hey Royal, I finally got my Opnsense to connect. Turns out it was link aggregation issue with an old ISP router. I got a new one and am able to get DHCP up on my FW. Im now trying to implement some plugins and try to configue some VPN. If you have any suggestions let me know | 05:33:40 |
