@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens have to say, compiling the lore website is quite slow, and it's getting slower 04:08:35
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens 1.5 minutes here 04:08:38
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro Is it getting choked up on parsing files? 04:10:49
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro I'm also guessing those recent changes haven't made it to a release yet? 😅 04:11:09
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens yeah, it seems to have an issue with checksums 04:11:43
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens and also, ruby isn't that fastest when parsing thousands of files 04:11:52
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro Hmm okay, I wonder if we can do any threading to maybe improve the parsing ( I haven't read the source yet, still booting up) 04:14:54
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens ruby can't do threading apparently 😛 04:15:04
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro Really? I do vaguely remember reading about fibers when I did a bit of ruby in college 😅
Unfortunately most of that has left my brain
04:15:37
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens https://github.com/nanoc/nanoc/issues/1692 04:16:19
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro Looks like we might have a new player 😛 04:17:36
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro I do see what they mean now about issues with parallelism
I know you can use fork() but that would only work in a POSIX setting, which for a project like nano where I'm guessing portability is important so that would be a no-no

04:19:35
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens I'm not sure there's a good way to make it faster 05:12:55
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens short of doing more heavy lifting in faster languages 05:13:03
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens I'm really doing the simplest approach possible atm 😛 05:13:14
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro I've been reading up on some ruby docs and I don't think so either, at least for the moment we can pull in the latest git version of nanoc and see how that helps 05:13:53
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro 30% is a pretty good uplift regardless 😄 05:14:02
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens yes 05:14:08
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens atm it won't compile either unles you add the changes from https://github.com/nanoc/nanoc/pull/1691 05:14:29
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens (it won't get merged, but something better probably will) 05:14:44
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro Hmm
We can pull from your fork for now if you want (can always pull in some changes from upstream if needed)
05:16:53
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens either way works, I'm hoping it gets implemented and released soon 05:17:23
@_discord_651018886661275659:t2bot.iobobbens I have to go now, pushed the latest changes, will be back later 05:17:31
@_discord_218985411676995584:t2bot.ioSynchro Okay 🙂 I should (hopefully) have it working in meson by the time you are back 05:18:14
