@pwr22:shortestpath.devpwr22Hi there!17:40:07
@brendon:matrix.orgbrendonHello, Welcome.17:46:46
@pwr22:shortestpath.devpwr22I just found WebFS via hackernews but I'm not quite 100% sure I'm grasping what it is properly. If I'm right then I implement the Store and Cell interfaces on top of some storage medium and then I can use any tooling (like fuse) for WebFS on my medium?18:15:48
@brendon:matrix.orgbrendonYes, that's about right. The one gotcha is that WebFS has to know about the Cell or Store implementation. You can't just register your implementation with WebFS, you have to make a spec object for it that describes how to create it.18:19:44
@brendon:matrix.orgbrendonIf you just want to write out of process code and have everything work you can write another HTTP Store server. And configure an HTTP Store to point to your server.18:20:25
@brendon:matrix.orgbrendonBecause WebFS knows about the HTTPStoreSpec, and how to create a HTTPStore from a spec.18:21:24
@brendon:matrix.orgbrendonhttps://github.com/brendoncarroll/webfs/blob/master/pkg/webfsim/storespecs.proto18:21:51
@brendon:matrix.orgbrendonHere is a very simple server that persists in memory. https://github.com/brendoncarroll/webfs/blob/master/pkg/stores/httpstore/server.go18:24:30
@pwr22:shortestpath.devpwr22Would I need to be writing some stuff in Go?18:25:01
@brendon:matrix.orgbrendonNope any language you can write an HTTP server in you could use.18:25:25
@pwr22:shortestpath.devpwr22I started writing a deduplicating object store in Go and was thinking about exposing higher level services on top of it (e.g. fuse) so WebFS is pretty interesting to me!18:25:32
@pwr22:shortestpath.devpwr22Ah right ok, I get it18:26:02
