Co-Chief to the Idiocy Officer | O k | 22:54:18 |
karmacolorcat | For that matter, I dont think Samus ever had a different suit | 22:54:38 |
karmacolorcat | all variations of her suit (counting base power, upgraded power, fusion's and dread's) are from the same suit | 22:55:16 |
karmacolorcat | manual breathing... | 22:55:52 |
genghiskombat | ...What does that even mean? | 22:56:20 |
karmacolorcat | have you ever breathed manually? | 22:56:36 |
genghiskombat | We all have. What about it? | 22:56:42 |
karmacolorcat | no no no | 22:56:48 |
karmacolorcat | manually | 22:56:54 |
monody | Fine. So I wanted some way to explain why the suit design changes from Prime 1 to Prime 2, and its onboard OS changes too, to something more alien and less human-intuitive in design. So my explanation is after she used the Omega Cannon in Hunters, the suit's ethical protocols shut it down and refused to operate anymore because it had been used to fire a weapon with such an unethical operating principle. (This is also why it keeps losing the Omega Cannon during the fight. It's rejecting it.) So with her original custom-modified-for-her suit out of action and Chozodia destroyed, she gets a new one from somewhere on Tallon IV, hidden away by the elders for emergencies. This is the suit she uses in Primes 2 and 3, but all the corruption and Federation tinkering left it with issues after that, so she digs out her original suit and jailbreaks it to use in the rest of the series after that. | 22:56:59 |
karmacolorcat | not automatically | 22:56:59 |
monody | Of course the problem with this theory is that Hunters uses the Prime 2/3 design, but… no theory is perfect. :) | 22:57:48 |
karmacolorcat | relatable -cue the Space Pirates headanon- | 22:58:14 |
Co-Chief to the Idiocy Officer | Doesn’t Hunters also take place between Prime 1 and Prime 2? | 22:58:15 |
Co-Chief to the Idiocy Officer | Don’t see how she would have gotten a different suit from Tallon IV to fix that unless she went back there off-screen. | 22:58:41 |
monody | Well we don't see her obtaining a new suit, so yeah it was off-screen. | 22:59:13 |
genghiskombat | So whatever changes it has to have happened between Prime 1 and Hunters...so, between when she leaves Tallon IV and when she gets word of the whole "Ultimate Power" jebait... | 22:59:17 |
karmacolorcat | anyways, breathing manually means that you breathe by being conscious of the action of breathing, like focusing yourself on that as opposed to doing it subconsciously | 22:59:17 |
genghiskombat | Yeah, I know, Karma. I still fail to see the relevance. | 22:59:29 |
karmacolorcat | F | 22:59:35 |
karmacolorcat | it's a fancy way to tell someone to calm down | 22:59:57 |
genghiskombat | ...If you think that was me being nettled, you have not seen me nettled. | 23:00:15 |
karmacolorcat | not arguing on that | 23:00:41 |
monody | If I had to come up with an explanation to fit this… I don't know… she found like… a Chozo USB stick with a firmware update on it, and that got corrupted in Prime 3 so she had to roll back. :P | 23:01:04 |
genghiskombat | When I'm nettled, the automod bot (accursed be its name) groans with frustration, because it means I'm probably going to miss an asterisk somewhere and force it to do its "job," among other things. | 23:01:05 |
karmacolorcat | The only thing we can all agree in regard of the suits is the fact | 23:02:03 |
genghiskombat | ...Okay, while I would not accept that word-for-word as canon, I do kind of find the base idea funny...and I think I have a way to spin it. | 23:02:07 |
karmacolorcat | they are kind of jank | 23:02:08 |
genghiskombat | So, remember how Metroid Prime, at the end of the game by the same name, yoinks the Phazon Suit right out of Samus? | 23:02:36 |
abciq | couldnt the suit just be purpose built to be extremely modular, its able to incorporate completely alien (to the chozo) tech, and the zm suit could have been just damaged beyond usability, which has been shown to happen to a lesser degree in prime 1 and 2. | 23:02:51 |
