monkygames | I added the Nolo Controller files into the steamvr apps directory and set m_render_model. But I was thinking that probably isn't the way to do it ... maybe via the workshop? | 06:32:46 |
monkygames | This video shows some of the problems I am having with SteamVR. Notice that when I go into the menu, the controller model renders. However, outside of steamvr, the render model is a hand (which is incorrect). Any ideas why that is?

galcool | It's steam VR home, it has customization options to make your controllers look like hands by default | 12:07:21 |
supreme__ | yeah i think the only time your controller model will be visible is when you're in the dashboard or when games explicitly request it | 13:21:35 |
haagch | an when steamvr home is disabled | 13:55:32 |
haagch | I have not tested this but my guess how it works is that you put them into steamvr-monado/resources/rendermodels/nolo/ and then tell steamvr in the plugin to use {monado}nolo . maybe you can find some documentation somewhere about it? back when I wrote that code I didn't see any and just guessed | 14:00:27 |
haagch | based on what the existing drivers in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/SteamVR/drivers do | 14:00:47 |
haagch | like steamvr ships rendermodels in ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/SteamVR/resources/rendermodels/ that you load with just the directory name and rendermodels in the driver subdirs like ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/SteamVR/drivers/htc/resources/rendermodels/ that you load with {drivername}rendermodeldirectoryname | 14:03:00 |

monkygames | How do set the grip and pose positions for the model in SteamVR? Do I need to use offsets for both? | 05:46:40 |

thaytan | they are steamvr events that the driver doesn't handle and can be ignored (or look them up and implement them if they seem useful). That said, 114 isn't even listed in the openvr.h that Monado includes, and is VREvent_Reserved_01 upstream in https://github.com/ValveSoftware/openvr/blob/master/headers/openvr.h | 04:55:48 |
joni_999 | Could someone please share a vrserver.txt file of a working SteamVR startup, so I can compare it with mine? It's somewhat difficult for me to find out which messages are actual errors / abnormal behaviour. | 06:35:56 |
haagch | when it complains about display stuff, vrcompositor.txt might be more useful to look at | 08:59:47 |
