Hey, cool! Karl's awesome! I gotta watch that | 18:32:20 |
punkoff | That one is in a smaller space, propably not recorded | 18:34:14 |
alphapapa |
ah too bad | 18:35:31 |
mediapathic | Hey all | 20:54:01 |
alphapapa |
mediapathic: welcome | 20:54:18 |
mediapathic | I’ve been using org for almost precisely a year | 20:54:34 |
mediapathic | My first entry in journal.org is 20 dec 17 | 20:55:40 |
alphapapa |
cool! | 20:55:48 |
mediapathic |
And at the moment I'm using it to write a novel as well as track fiction submissions | 20:59:03 |
alphapapa |
very cool | 20:59:21 |
mediapathic |
(as well as everything else in my life but those are the most unusual uses I think) | 20:59:35 |
mediapathic |
oh I guess tracking parts inventory for lights at a nightclub counts as unusual | 21:00:03 |
alphapapa | In reply to mediapathic oh I guess tracking parts inventory for lights at a nightclub counts as unusual
that sounds blogworthy | 21:00:12 |
mediapathic |
eh maybe. It's really just a bunch of Properties drawers | 21:01:10 |
mediapathic |
I schedule for the light department, too, and that actually is more interesting | 21:01:46 |
| vixivix joined the room. | 21:02:16 |
alphapapa |
vixivix: Welcome. | 21:03:42 |
mediapathic |
Because it's a cloned with date advance tree that looks like ~ <2018-12-29 Sat> "Name of Event" "Name of Employee" ~ with a bunch of properties drawers for details | 21:06:45 |
mediapathic |
The properties drawers mean I can make a nice column-view version of the schedule for the boss, and the title being a date means it shows up on my agenda every day | 21:07:33 |
mediapathic |
so I can remember when I've forgotten to schedule someone and have to show up :) | 21:08:00 |
mediapathic |
(I am new to management) | 21:08:06 |
mediapathic |
alphapapa: also thank you for making this room | 21:16:06 |
alphapapa |
was about time haha | 21:16:16 |
mediapathic |
indeed | 21:16:25 |
alphapapa | In reply to mediapathic (I am new to management)
It would be interesting to read about someone using Org "in anger" for management of that sort of thing | 21:16:53 |
mediapathic |
heh. I mean, it kind of was | 21:22:22 |
mediapathic |
we have scheduling software which is functional, but difficult to, I suppose the phrase would be "sketch" in. It's hard to look at a schedule and see if it makes sense, without confusing everyone | 21:23:30 |
mediapathic |
plus, it's web based so all that mouse clicking ewwww | 21:23:39 |
mediapathic |
so I use org to plan it, which means I can use the keyboard like god intended, and only when I like the final result do I have to make with the clicky | 21:24:41 |
mediapathic |
also I get a local copy which, as per previous, goes into my agenda | 21:25:13 |
