5% seems really high. You could try to negotiate rev share instead - base rent + X% of revenue from the customers on tower. That way your rent doesn't go up unless you're making money.

21:17:00@techguy255:matrix.orgtechguy255Hi, I am working on starting an ISP, where I resell another ISP’s service directly to the customer. I am wondering if I have to file for Form 477 or not for this type of ISP. I am also wondering if I have to file for Form 477 if I am reselling VOIP.
21:19:05@graham:castleton.esGrahamForm 477 doesn't apply to Voip. It's probably in your best interest to file form 477 whether required or not on the ISP side (and it probably is required.)
21:20:53@techguy255:matrix.orgtechguy255Ok, thank you.

Does anyone utilize Residential properties, MDU's, etc as HUBs and if so, how much should I expect to compensate the owner. I have an owner with 3 MDU's across an area that I would like to utilize as Hubs to service the surrounding properties. Just looking for an opening figure as not to offend and lose the opportunity.
i forget the term, but i remember someone saying they pay depending on the number of customers in the MDU.

15:42:58@coreyman:matrix.orgcoreymanAnyone done 'long' range back haul around 65 miles(thats the closest metro for me)? What was the added latency? How much did you have to spend on the equipment? Wondering if it's worth for me to even consider this, we are in a remote backwoods area with no on-net providers in a huge radius.
15:43:36@graham:castleton.esGrahamhow many hops would you need to get clear line of sight shots?
15:44:55@coreyman:matrix.orgcoreyman Graham: I think i can get high enough to get clear line of sight in both locations with one hop.
15:45:07@coreyman:matrix.orgcoreyman * Graham: I think i can get high enough to get clear line of sight in both locations with one hop.
15:45:30@coreyman:matrix.orgcoreymanHowever my microsites may need one more hop after the backhaul.
15:47:19@graham:castleton.esGrahamoh that's not too bad then. A single hop won;t add much latency even over 65 miles. You'll need big dishes to make the shot though. Probably 6Ghz licensed could do it. Prob looking at $10-15k in equipment and licensing costs.
15:49:59@coreyman:matrix.orgcoreymanOh I was wrong about the single hop, just checked. :P How many hops am I looking at to create an issue?
15:57:10@graham:castleton.esGrahamIf you use licensed links with modern equipment you'll really only be adding a couple of ms per hop.
15:58:12@graham:castleton.esGrahamif you try to use cheaper gear (like 5Ghz unlicensed stuff) you can still be ok, but if possible you should try to get equiopment that is full duplex (like the AirFiber 5X) IE: something that uses two channels, one for unload and one for download
15:59:35@coreyman:matrix.orgcoreyman Graham: thanks so much :) .
