@franzopow:matrix.orgfranzopow On element web I believe you just need to hover on the name and it tells you the address but I don't remember rn 10:52:36
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoq franzopow: if it is so easily visible, why are you complaining then? /s 10:52:55

In reply to @franzopow:matrix.org
Not really but it's an extra click to navigate into the room and check the address
Speaking of which creating a space, which I did, solves th problem because uses spaces as intended

Because changin the room name makes it very very clear for every client/protocol on earth
10:53:33
@franzopow:matrix.orgfranzopowEven email10:53:41
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoqIt is already very clear for every client/protocol, except matrix which intentionally obfuscates the server part.10:54:28
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️That server that matters isn't even in the room address, which contains matrix.f-hub.org, not f-hub.org10:54:36
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️Because they are separate. f-hub.org isn't even directly in the matrix federation/network10:54:36
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️poVoq: Matrix doesn't just "obfuscate" it, matrix is designed so that servers aren't relevant10:55:59
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️for example if tchncs.de (which is the server in the current main address of LibreGaming rooms) is down nothing will happen to the rooms10:56:02
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoq Skyflare ⚡️: servers are relevant even in matrix. 10:56:24
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoqIf the technics homeserver runs a bridge, then the room is practically not functional if the server goes down.10:58:03
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoq Other matrix home servers just pretend it isn't. Similar to a netsplit in irc. 10:58:31
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️In this case the bridge is just a separate entity (same as user)10:59:33
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️When a home bridge is down only its users are affected10:59:33
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️It's just that in a bridges case all the users from that bridge uses the same homeserver10:59:49
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoqIn the case of a portaled room the bridge *is* the room.11:00:12
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️poVoq: you can read my messages right?11:00:45
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoqNot if the bridge is down.11:01:09
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️I just routed f-hub.org, matrix.f-hub.org and tchncs.de to 0.0.0.011:01:50
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoq That's just federation 11:02:25
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoqYou can do the same on xmpp11:02:35
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️Portaled rooms are just a weird thing done by the bridge so clients shouldn't have to treat them as their own thing11:02:58
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️And iirc they will continue to work alongside other matrix users without the bridge11:03:30
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️

emorrp1: right?
11:03:36
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoqYes, similar to how people can still chat on netspit irc channels11:04:02
@irc_poVoq:matrix.f-hub.orgpoVoq But that's rather a problem than an advantage 11:04:53
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️Yes, but in this case that f-hub is just another random homeserver11:04:55
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️Nothing special with it other than that it houses more users than usual11:05:08
@skyflare:conduit.rsSkyflare ⚡️That's why it's domain shouldn't have special treatment from the protocol and clients11:05:42
