@MSiep:matrix.orgMSiepI wonder whether OSUOSL has, or would be willing to set up, a Jitsi Meet server with Jibri to allow recording? The use case I have in mind is user experience testing via recorded video meetings with screen sharing.18:22:43
@MSiep:matrix.orgMSiepLimesurvey would also be very useful.18:23:57

@adroit:matrix.orgAdroit Oops yeah, I was at an eclipse festival 04:40:11
@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17 Salt: I think one reason I've been talking about the crowdmatch.org design as though it's a foregone conclusion is that I do feel ready to commit to most of the other design updates, besides the mechanism (e.g. summary/how/why split). 12:22:43

@adroit:matrix.orgAdroitWould love to have a Snowdrift explainer video of this quality and smoothness19:23:51
@wolftune:matrix.orgwolftunevideo and style is good. I don't happen to find it convincing about Ampl and Spot though21:38:53
@adroit:matrix.orgAdroitI can't speak to that as it's the actual documentation of SPOT and AMPL that convinced me, but the concepts would be too complicated for many people which is why I think the video did a great job of visualizing the essential ideas22:17:10
@adroit:matrix.orgAdroitI suppose that's a fundamental aspect of conveying such things in video explainer form. Someone could just as easily watch our current Snowdrift video and say it's "unconvincing". But hopefully they would at least not have overall confusion about how it's supposed to work.22:20:11
@wolftune:matrix.orgwolftuneyes, and what I particularly appreciate is the video taking appropriate length and not tying to cover more in a short time than can be covered22:41:55
@wolftune:matrix.orgwolftuneFWIW, my skepticism is about the entire structural context for ample/spot rather than skepticism of them within the context22:42:49

yes, and what I particularly appreciate is the video taking appropriate length and not tying to cover more in a short time than can be covered
yeah exactly. I feel like most videos like that are way too short. But I suppose it was not easy to make.

I think I have an idea what you mean; fortunately none of the ideas require the particular structure they're currently running on (Ethereum smart contracts) and I'm blown away that we have finally found a decentralized way to carefully align incentives for financial stability rather than volatility (or "growth"). I can imagine this flatcoin design one day surpassing the US dollar in terms of storing value and resisting changes

right, and changing a video later is much harder than changing a website or otherwise
00:49:08
@wolftune:matrix.orgwolftunewe sure learned that hard lesson, and we need to use illustrations and text first to get the point in that format, and if we have that down solid, we can choose to make a video version. That's my opinion on what's healthy here00:50:02
@adroit:matrix.orgAdroit I dare to say, our website could look like the video someday 03:56:33
@adroit:matrix.orgAdroitIf someone will draw the vectors for me :p03:56:44
@adroit:matrix.orgAdroit * Our website could just be illustrated and animated like that video someday... 03:57:44

MSiep: I think the first bullet of how-it-works is a bit too complex of a sentence structure right now. Specifically, too many clarifying sentence fragments tacked on before we get to the end of the idea.

You pledge an amount that you'll be willing to donate monthly when enough others join you that the crowd can fund 100% of the project's goal.

What about something like:

You pledge an amount that you'll be willing to donate monthly… but only when enough others join you and the crowd funds 100% of the project's goal.

22:26:19
@smichel17:matrix.orgsmichel17

More compressed version:

You pledge an amount that you're willing to donate monthly… but only when enough others join you and fund 100% of the project's goal.
