@hik:aboveaverage.spacehikI use Ubuntu 20.04 and haven't had this problem, but when I was using AL2 I had a libc problem. My solution for "I don't have the right version of glibc" is "I go get a new box that does"12:29:02
@hik:aboveaverage.spacehikCrude, but effective.12:29:20

@hik:aboveaverage.spacehik(Mostly because I find that mucking about with versions of libc and c compilers in your core system tends to be a recipe for breaking your box anyway unless you're very careful)12:31:27

Hi, Just discovered the Internet Computer that Dfinity has launched. Seems like a brilliant project although quite complex to get your head around. I do have a few concerns that I'm trying to bottom out before I invest too much time understanding it. Here are my main concerns after some reading:

A lot of power seems to lie with the DFinity Foundation
It is unclear where the ownership of 74% of the ICPs lie
A single identity raises significant potential privacy issues.

thoughts?

There is only one of those that isn't a meme, and that's the first one. The Foundation is working really hard to decentralize more - but launched relatively early in its lifecycle so there are a lot of things that aren't fully there yet.

@hik:aboveaverage.spacehikThe Internet Identity system does not produce a single identity, nor are dApp developers required to use it.23:25:59
@hik:aboveaverage.spacehikIt's presented as an alternative to OAUTH through google etc23:26:13
@hik:aboveaverage.spacehikAnd the way it works is that a principal gets a unique id per-dApp through II23:26:32
@hik:aboveaverage.spacehikbut they're different cross-dApp23:26:46
@hik:aboveaverage.spacehikand if you are concerned about the privacy risks - principals are free.23:26:59
