rundg | Go jamesmontalvo3 ! | 12:30:36 |
groundginger | :D science!!!! | 12:30:40 |
darenwelsh | wait ... I was AFK. You saw James on TV? I'm doubtful because they usually don't show the backroom on TV. | 12:32:50 |
sabinemelnicki | I saw his back, he got up, wearing a white shirt. | 12:36:22 |
groundginger | I see the control room now | 12:37:23 |
rundg | I think I might have just seen him too.. if he was in the lower foreground part of the screen. You could barely see the top of his head :-) | 12:37:52 |
darenwelsh | not to take away from James' leadership role, but you probably saw the Flight Control Room (FCR) where Grant is representing the EVA team. James is in a "back room" where there's no TV coverage. While Grant represents the entire EVA system to the Flight Director, James is the one who knows all the details of the tasks to be performed today. James wrote the procedures and actually leads the team since the front room guy (Grant) has to also monitor suit and Airlock performance. | 12:38:58 |
darenwelsh | so if there is a suit issue, it's another person from our team also in the back room who will tell Grant in the front room what's going on. Grant takes in all this info from his back room experts and puts together a consolidated plan to Flight | 12:39:50 |
rundg | I had an interesting idea: sort of like implementing Unix man pages in a wiki. With man pages, there are separate sections 1-8 that also roughly correspond to the concept of "levels". Section 1 is for User commands and section 8 is for System management commands. Oftentimes, the same command has different instructions based on the level. So, think of the difference between "User docs", "Developer docs" and "System Administrator docs". Could namespaces be used to separately maintain documentation in a wiki on different "levels" and perhaps develop an extension that would provide viewing and editing with links between sections? | 13:28:09 |
rundg | Also: if you run a Drupal site PATCH NOW! | 13:28:46 |
cicalese | Woohoo! Space walk officially underway! | 13:34:43 |
rundg | "The radiator beam valve module is connected to the BRT." "Copy" | 13:43:40 |
cicalese | So, the steps that they are reading out (" ... attaching the bag to the BRT ...") are what jamesmontalvo3 wrote? Is the BRT the thing we saw by the pool that you put on, darenwelsh? | 13:44:30 |
darenwelsh | yes, James wrote these procedures | 13:45:10 |
rundg | 🌻 | 13:45:12 |
darenwelsh | The BRT is the flexible arm worn on the left side of the suit that can be rigidized. It is used to carry hardware and also for personal restraint at worksites | 13:45:39 |
darenwelsh | Yes, that's the thing I put on at the pool deck | 13:45:55 |
darenwelsh | BRT = Body Restraint Tether | 13:46:00 |
