rundg | I upgraded to 34.x for FamilySearch wikis, and for some reason I'm getting crushed. I'm getting 503 'Service Unavailable' errors -- apparently because MySQL is overloaded. When pages do load, they can be extremely slow. I just had a page load

rundg | I know I should carefully review any changes to MySQL configuration, but one thing I'm seeing in the logs are lots of slow queries for queries like this:SELECT /* */ r.rev_user_text FROM revision r, page pWHERE p.page_title = 'Spain_Murcia.jpg' ORDER BY r.rev_id ASC LIMIT 1; Does that seem weird to you? | 20:00:16 |

hexmode | In reply to @tgr:matrix.orgI know this is too complicated for a logo, but this photo from Reddit should give someone inspiration for a logo. | 20:33:08 |

tgr | In reply to @freephile:matrix.orgthat's a Descartian product of you entire page and revision tables | 21:41:28 |
tgr | given the LIMIT 1, I'm not sure why it is slow, but it is an entirely nonsensical query | 21:41:57 |
tgr | presumably there should be a p.page_id = r.rev_page in there | 21:43:16 |
rundg | The slow queries I was experiencing were coming from the ApprovedRevs extension. | 23:03:14 |

rundg | From looking at the code, It appears that the JOIN condition is not being used? I didn't have time to test it b/c I had to disable it. | 02:56:19 |
hexmode | In reply to @freephile:matrix.orgI think I've seen this before... Can you at least report a bug? (because I didn't I don't think) | 02:57:04 |
hexmode | And cc me | 02:57:08 |
rundg | Will do | 02:57:32 |

richardheigl | Now it has happened. Habemus blogum: https://mediawikiexperts.blog/ Announcement on mediawiki-l is sent but apparently not yet approved. | 11:32:47 |
hexmode | does anybody know how MW communicates with JS/Parsoid? I'm seeing some cookie confusion (I think that's what it is anyway) from two identically configured wikis. The only difference (that i have found so far) is that it works on the one running the parsoid container under podman and doesn't work on the one running the parsoid container under docker. | 17:03:25 |
hexmode | (Oh, and the working one is Centos7 and the not-working one is Centos6, hence the podman/docker difference.) | 17:04:15 |
hexmode | Hmm... I'm going to look at another problem now, but I just got hit with a big carp -- I'm gonna try switching to docker on the dev server. | 17:05:26 |

tgr | Parsoid cookies for private wikis was a very recent fix | 00:05:02 |
tgr | richardheigl: there shouldn't be a need for approval if you are subscibed | 00:05:23 |
richardheigl | In reply to @tgr:matrix.orgThat was interesting. Because it turned out that a term in the header had caused the filtr. Now I already missed the popular terms "Free, Drugs, Pills, Sex, Fast Credit", but it was one of those terms: "Launch" "MediaWiki" "Experts" "Blog" or a combination of them. 😂 | 13:13:48 |

jtm-lis | richardheigl: Hi Richard its Julien I made the mistake of replying to the mailing list with a suggestion for the mediawikiexperts.blog upon announcement. It just hit me later the next day, that is really not the place for that. Sorry I am still new to mailing lists and the community at large. | 01:56:45 |
jtm-lis | Where should I submit feedback for https://mediawikiexperts.blog/ ? Phabricator? | 01:57:25 |
jtm-lis | I commented on **T1029: Contact Installatron **and T187514: Documentation for bringing a MediaWiki site online. I am not sure really of the lay of the land or the proper protocols for getting involved in a greater capacity. I guess it would start with a personal introduction? I am a bit at a loss at the moment, on how to do get more involved. Most of it isn't of great importance, but I really feel strongly about looking at mediawiki.org protections so I can update the documentation as I learn mediawiki. | 04:43:37 |
