hexmode | I hope everyone is still alive. It has gotten really quiet in here this past week | 16:01:52 |
darenwelsh | that's an extreme version of the common telecon phrase "Can everyone hear me?" Are we doing a roll call? | 16:08:32 |
shawndouglas | Ping | 16:18:33 |
hexmode | darenwelsh: if I see people's avatars move, I'll assume they're alive. but pings are always good | 16:42:52 |
hexmode | I'm just afraid that CV got someone. | 16:43:21 |
darenwelsh | well, that would be awful. But why don't we start by trying to make sure everyone is doing okay. Does anyone need anything? I don't know how to ping the entire room. | 16:52:17 |

Alif | A question regarding the behaviour of the job queue:
When there are jobs in the queue of a type refreshLinks pending for a template and a given page, and the template is once again edited, are new jobs of the same type and affected page queued?
Is there a way to mitigate this overhead?
I'm asking because I have a small number of templates that are used in every page, and while developing them I make small changes to the template. I'd rather not have the system continuously updating links over and over. | 20:07:33 |
hexmode | A.Gharbeia: | 22:40:24 |
hexmode | * A.Gharbeia: how are you running your job queue? Most of those jobs shouldn't take much time. | 22:40:55 |

Jeroen De Dauw | I'm looking for MW related surveys. Any done after https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/2015_MediaWiki_User_Survey ? | 11:14:28 |
Alif | In reply to @hexmode:matrix.org A.Gharbeia: how are you running your job queue? Most of those jobs shouldn't take much time. I crontab it> But one of my wiki has 15k pages using the same template to display information. I change something and the system goes into frenzy for days. Full CPU utilisation. | 17:40:16 |

hexmode | Jeroen De Dauw: none that I know of, but maybe you could team up with #mwstake to do another one | 17:51:36 |
hexmode | which is something we've discussed... | 17:51:46 |
hexmode | A.Gharbeia: I don't know what to tell you, I have a couple sizable wikis using cron to run their jobqueue but haven't seen anything like that | 17:53:39 |
hexmode | (or maybe I have but the jobs usually run on a separate server...) | 17:54:03 |
| * hexmode is terrible about monitoring | 17:54:18 |
