cicalese | rheingoldriver: I recall a recent conversation about dark mode, but I cannot locate it now. Could you please point me again to your dark mode switcher? Thanks! | 18:13:15 |
rundg | cicalese: In the Riot desktop client, I click my username/image in the top left corner and go to "Settings -> General -> Theme" to set the dark theme | 18:30:23 |
cicalese | Thanks, but I meant on a wiki :-) | 18:30:44 |
rundg | lol | 18:30:53 |
bryandamon | I think it was @georgios:matrix.org as well | 19:09:34 |

- Could anyone tell me if they know how does this wiki have this button at the top right to switch between light and dark themes? It seems too good (with the dialog that pops up) to be just a hack, but when I checked the list of extensions they use I couldn't find anything that does that.

cicalese | Perfect! Thank you! That's all I needed. | 20:29:41 |

Georgios Mavropalias | yep, turns out it was a gadget. Gadgets seems to be very important tools for customizing mediawiki | 02:11:58 |

tgr | wow, that's elegant | 02:18:35 |
tgr | but basically just a CSS class | 02:18:46 |
Georgios Mavropalias | hi hexmode , I'm not sure who is the maintainer of that tutorial, but I saw you reply to the other discussion I link in my post, so here is a problem I came up with and I had to spend several minutes to solve in a fresh MW installation https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Topic:Vfeta0rvwvnno0wh | 11:00:51 |
Georgios Mavropalias | I hope the tutorial is updated for newer mysql versions, etc | 11:01:11 |
Georgios Mavropalias | also that tutorial only tells you how to install mw with mysql on ubuntu, I can't find information for installing mw with mariadb | 11:02:22 |
Georgios Mavropalias | and since wikipedia is using mariadb, I would think that would be the default database choice for mw | 11:03:16 |

Anyone a good idea ? | 09:24:30 |
Charly | Bryan's https://runescape.wiki/ he mentioned also has no slug.. so it is possible | 09:26:47 |
Marijn van Wezel | Can't you use a rewrite? | 11:56:48 |
Charly | Not that I can figure out. | 12:41:15 |
rundg | Just set the DOCUMENT_ROOT in Apache to be the installation directory of MediaWiki | 13:33:08 |
rundg | https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Wiki_in_site_root_directory | 13:37:00 |
rundg | It's not recommended, but possible | 13:39:19 |
Charly | My question is more related to the name of the homepage (mainpage ). We have set "home" as our mainpage. Just don't want it to show up in the url | 13:43:09 |
Charly | jus like with https://runescape.wiki/ if you go there, you see no https://runescape.wiki/MediaWiki or https://runescape.wiki/Home for the entry page.
if you do click on another link on that page you will see the full slug in the url, but thats fine. I just want out main entry homepage to only show the domain. | 13:48:01 |
