kwantmaker | In reply to @vishnukvmd:matrix.orgWould it be of interest to setup a bridge bot between matrix and discord? I have seen this be done for other projects, namely GrapheneOS | 12:21:26 |
Vishnu | In reply to @kwantmaker:matrix.orgYes, we had a bridge (t2bot.io)! But it kept dropping messages that would break conversations, and someone from the team would have to relay the context on one of the channels. And a while ago they ran into an issue that reset all the bridges (https://t2bot.io/blog/2024/01/14/discord-bridge-reset/), and we took that as a sign to just let things be 🧘 | 13:03:31 |

kwantmaker | In reply to @vishnukvmd:matrix.orgOh I see, too bad :( | 21:48:23 |
kwantmaker | I was wondering, I recently uploaded a batch of picture from my computer and the computer has indexed all items. When I look at my phone, I see my phone is indexing roughly the same amount of items I recently uploaded on my computer (I did not upload anything from my phone). Are the indexes unique per device? Does each device need to perform all the indexing? Or am I misunderstanding something about how the indexing works? Thank you | 21:50:32 |

Vishnu | In reply to @kwantmaker:matrix.orgIndexes are synced across devices. The only caveat here is that Graphene does not support the framework that works on other flavors of Android + desktop + iOS. So we've shipped a different framework to perform indexing solely on Graphene. So if you're on Graphene, we'll unfortunately be indexing twice. We've figured out a workaround for this, but it's a bit ugly to implement at the moment, will have to spend some time to figure out a graceful way forward (we will eventually) | 06:06:07 |
S | Weird issue: when sharing from ente, some videos don't work with this app, most do but some don't. https://f-droid.org/packages/com.gtp.showapicturetoyourfriend/ | 20:33:51 |

Vishnu | In reply to @s613:matrix.orgWill add this feature to Ente :) | 05:56:21 |
S | In reply to @vishnukvmd:matrix.orgThat's amazing! Thanks! Cause it is a super useful and cool feature | 07:08:28 |
S | Will it be in the long or short term road map? | 07:08:54 |
S | And can you name the feature 'secure viewer'? 🙏😉😉 | 07:15:33 |

S | Is it possible to search by the names of people that uploaded photos via a link? | 08:56:05 |
Vishnu | Not yet, but there's a feature request here: https://github.com/ente-io/ente/discussions/845 | 09:13:27 |
s38b35M5 | I use Obtanium to track ente versioning on github. Since recently, I have to watch this branch (https://github.com/ente-io/ente), which includes Auth and other apps than the Android app. Ibises to watch (https://github.com/ente-io/photos-app) but it seems to be depreciated since the open sourcing of server. Now obtanium shows me updates are available when any software is released. Anyone familiar with this that can help point me in the right direction? | 15:14:32 |

Vishnu | Not sure (because I'm not super familiar with Obtanium), but this might help: https://github.com/ente-io/ente/discussions/1087#discussioncomment-8775684 | 15:15:49 |

Vishnu | In reply to @it_robot:matrix.orgLooks good! | 15:16:36 |
s38b35M5 | But see that it shows me I can update the photos app with Auth? That's not right... | 15:17:15 |
s38b35M5 | Thx. Will read through comments | 15:19:00 |
Vishnu | In reply to @it_robot:matrix.orgOh, my bad. I thought this was listing out the versions for both our apps | 15:19:10 |
s38b35M5 | Haven't had to filter a monorepo before | 15:19:18 |
s38b35M5 | In reply to @vishnukvmd:matrix.orgYeah, instead its saying, "I see you have photos v.x.x installed, there is an update for Auth v.2.x.x for you!" | 15:20:08 |
s38b35M5 | Download 1000006661.png | 15:22:28 |
s38b35M5 | I used a literal instead of strictly regex, and it seems to be working to exclude Auth. I'll keep an eye on it for when there's an update to the android app. TY | 15:23:13 |
