There seems to be a problem with the link, all I see is an empty page
Likely due to the auto-updates. Need to disable it...

@artur.librecube:matrix.orgArtur Scholz Thanks jankolmas for fixing the 1U and shayanmajumder for doing the routing 13:47:20
@artur.librecube:matrix.orgArtur ScholzI'm searching for an open source CAN to USB device. This one claims to be open hardware, but I could not find any hardware design of it: https://canable.io/14:12:35
@artur.librecube:matrix.orgArtur ScholzSuch device would be needed to test LibreCube subsystem boards from a PC (which acts as controller node). I have this one, but it's not open source and expensive: https://www.8devices.com/products/usb2can14:14:38
@artur.librecube:matrix.orgArtur ScholzThe "best" I found is that one, but needs a bit of rework: https://github.com/myaki-moe/usb2can14:15:30

@cajt:matrix.orgcajtAny SLCAN protocol capable device should work with Linux, can't say much about the built-in ones for Linux ( e.g. zynq, rpi+shield etc...)13:22:30

@artur.librecube:matrix.orgArtur Scholz jankolmas: Here is the CAD design of the PACE CubeSat structure which I did years ago, it includes the deployment switch. Unfortunately it is only in CATIA (it was years before I was evangelized by open source). I now converted it to STL to be able to open in FreeCAD (you may need to zoom out). 10:36:27

@cajt:matrix.orgcajtWhy not move on to a more symmetric (and metric) design? Have a look at containers/dispensers with tabs, not only rails. An enclave for legacy "104" boards will be around for some time to come (forever?). But the 100mil stacking connector is electrically ill suited for "higher" powers and higer speed interfaces, so there is a need for innovation here. 21:56:02
@cajt:matrix.orgcajtW.r.t rougness and screw holes, I would interpret the spec differently. See 2.2.9, so 25% holes in the rail should be fine. and 2.2.6 ist only a macroscopic surfaces property, with the intend of guaranteing a proper sliding between the rails of payload and dispenser. 22:03:12

@jankolmas:matrix.orgjankolmas cajt: good suggestion, we could think of a "v2" evolution of the form factor, which could include deployment tabs and better way of stacking the boards, something like PCIe in a desktop PC 20:13:30
@cajt:matrix.orgcajtWell, I think its a bit more complicated. Regarding PCIe: There is cPCI Serial Space. But the standard's formfactors are cards in a backplane about 100 (Eurocard) and 230mm wide (double euro). 20:23:55
@cajt:matrix.orgcajtAnd there is about enough space in 2U Cubesat for one Eurocard, right in the middle, diagonally. 20:26:28

@cajt:matrix.orgcajtAlso cPCI serial Space (formfactor) is the wong granularity for many subsystem in a Cubesat right now20:41:12
@cajt:matrix.orgcajtPushing it all hard engough the whole sat's bus electronics could be on one board, with room to spare20:42:11

@cajt:matrix.orgcajtI just had a short browse across the ECSS-E-ST-70-32c (Pluto def.) and it kinda looked allmost similar to a hierarchical task network (HTN) model, it only lacked the goal state definition. Is that just coincidence?16:57:56
