fakeheal | I am in the capital of my country, it has around 2mln people and not a single route :( | 09:08:22 |

@jeremy:j3r.cc | I'm lucky. Someone created a route on the path I normally walk in the mornings! | 09:14:12 |
| ezweber joined the room. | 12:47:02 |
ezweber | Is there anyway to deal with the fact I live in the middle of nowhere and there's no pokestops or gyms around me? | 17:21:26 |
thomas | Submit to wayfarer | 17:26:33 |
thomas | You have to be a higher level though, maybe 35? Not sure on the latest | 17:26:56 |
ErkNinja | It’s level 38 | 17:31:37 |
ErkNinja | And you have to take pass a short quiz | 17:32:11 |
thomas | And I recommend starting slowly if you review, doing too many at once won't have confirmations | 17:34:04 |
ErkNinja | I just submitted for a new pokestop yesterday. It was my first one. Any idea how long the review process takes? | 17:48:21 |
ezweber | In reply to @ErkNinja:matrix.org It’s level 38 Alright, got a little grinding to do. | 18:02:16 |
ezweber | Thanks for the info guys! | 18:02:38 |
thomas | if you were level 10 or 12 in ingress you can do it there too | 18:05:40 |
@bastinsawkscack:matrix.org | In reply to @ErkNinja:matrix.org I just submitted for a new pokestop yesterday. It was my first one. Any idea how long the review process takes? It depends on the activity of the Community. It can be a day or a couple of weeks. | 20:22:51 |
ErkNinja | Mine still says “In queue” | 20:24:51 |

thomas | Some making Route tips, IMO:
- When making one, try to keep it 500m or so, a km is a tad too long and particularly hard when it's not going along a common route (to/from public transit, major feature, etc).
- If you're doing more than 500m, its helpful to keep it as a semi circle or so. That way at least the route doesn't take someone out of their way.
- Consider helping FOSS apps instead of doing work for Niantic by uploading GPS Tracks for OSM, especially if you're rural: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/GPS_tracks Explanation: https://scribe.bus-hit.me/m/global-identity-2?redirectUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fblog.mapbox.com%2F9-years-of-openstreetmap-gps-tracks-available-for-mapping-47f6074c0688

@bastinsawkscack:matrix.org | Ok, so finally there's a route in the next city. But now this: I started the route in the menu, went to the starting pokestop and got this message. It says, that PoGo paused the route because it can't detect my location. What?! | 18:38:09 |
thomas | Happens to me a lot. I have to leave the game open | 18:39:21 |
@bastinsawkscack:matrix.org | I don't understand. The game is always open (when i play it). | 18:40:33 |
thomas | Maybe turn off your WiFi? Sometimes phones use wifi hotspots in addition to GPS | 18:46:44 |
thomas | But it's probably mostly a game problem | 18:46:54 |
@bastinsawkscack:matrix.org | I found a workaround: Deactivate Adventure Sync. This works with Version 0.277.3. I just finished my first route (but didn't find any cell). | 19:04:44 |
ErkNinja | It sounds like cells are very rare | 19:31:30 |
27 Jul 2023 |
@jeremy:j3r.cc | Yeah its even possible to get zero cells after tapping on the glowing thing at the end of the route | 06:06:09 |
@jeremy:j3r.cc | This happened to me. The message was that 0 cells were absorbed 😢 | 06:06:40 |
thomas | {0}? Thought it was a bug | 06:10:11 |
@jeremy:j3r.cc | Perhaps it was! I checked and I have 2 cells | 06:54:37 |
@jeremy:j3r.cc | I've only had the glowy thing happen twice | 06:54:54 |
