Hello, If I'm uploading file to odysee who is hosting that? If lbry bases on p2p how can I create a node with my videos? I want to relieve base server or something like this.
And the last question. There are some p2p blockchain techs that users claim tokens for sharing drive and network connection. Is it also implemented in lbry?
Odysee has its own servers, that host everything on lbry. If you upload through odysee, at first odysee is hosting that file. If a desktop client user is downloading it, and has the setting ON, for sharing back, then they also host the file, until they remove the blobs. If you upload through a desktop client also, then that desktop client is hosting it, along with odysee, so there are two hosters then. More desktop client users can then get it the same way. The easiest way to create a node is to use a desktop client, upload from that, or if you already uploaded through odysee, then download from the desktop client. As long as the desktop client (or lbrynet, what the desktop clients all use) is running, you are sharing back that content. No, theres no such thing in lbry, the only ways of getting tokens are mining or donation by users (where odysee also counts as a user)

@wolficefang:matrix.orgWolf Icefang Hey I'm back.
Due to the recent issues with Reddit, I'm looking for alternatives again. LBRY has the infrastructure to be a Reddit alternative IMO. There's only one issue... Is the system proof of stake now, or is it still proof of work?
13:02:58
@dotevo:matrix.orgdotevoIMHO. More similar to reddit are hive, steem, blurt i think or based on fediverse ex. lemmy. I think LBRY is more like YT. Am I wrong?13:17:26

Yes LBRY is similar to youtube but it's just a file server that's good at playing video files. You can upload any file type, including text/markdown. And you get to apply category tags (I don't remember the exact name, it's been a while) that would let you filter in a similar way to subreddits.

I'll look into the suggestions you gave, though.

Also, theres another reddit alternative, on the fediverse, called kbin (github .com/ernestwisniewski/kbin), its not as left leaning as lemmy, is newer, and recently surpassed lemmy in user count. Of course its fediverse, so you can crosspost/like/comment/whatever

@wolficefang:matrix.orgWolf IcefangCool.17:12:17
@wolficefang:matrix.orgWolf Icefang Kbin looks great and it has a mechanical keyboards magazine. I'll throw my lot in with that and maybe also Hive... I haven't looked at Lemmy yet. 17:24:48
