@morsmortium:matrix.org | In reply to @killercat103:xmr.se Don't really want to rely on the centeralized platform But yeah, me neither, unless theres nothing better i could do | 19:34:56 |
Killercat103 | In reply to @morsmortium:matrix.org Btw, what platform are you on? Wdym? | 20:20:19 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | Are you on windows or linux or mac? | 20:20:40 |
Killercat103 | Oh, Linux | 20:54:40 |
Killercat103 | Sorry Didn't see your response 😅 | 20:55:06 |
Killercat103 | I just sent an email with a gdpr request asking them to just delete the keys to the wallet instead of content that is stored on the actual blockchain | 20:56:23 |
Killercat103 | Because it seemed the delete button deleted my channels as well. While empty and mostly meaninless I kind of did not want that xd | 20:57:04 |
Killercat103 | * Because it seemed the delete button would delete my channels as well. While empty and mostly meaninless I kind of did not want that xd | 20:57:13 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | In reply to @killercat103:xmr.se Oh, Linux Yeah, forgot to reply. But in that case, if you want to, you can also try the gtk client, me and some other guys are developing, its called lbry-gtk. Theres an aur package and its also available as appimage, tho the aur package is much more recent | 20:57:33 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | In reply to @killercat103:xmr.se Because it seemed the delete button would delete my channels as well. While empty and mostly meaninless I kind of did not want that xd Theres also a very complicated way in which you create a local wallet, and transfer everything you own to that, but its a long manual process | 20:58:14 |
Killercat103 | Oh? I think I saw it but I wasnt sure of its maturity | 20:58:16 |
Killercat103 | Would probably be a safer and better route tbh. Not denying that | 20:58:53 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | It doesnt have many features of lbry desktop, but has some features lbry desktop doesnt have | 20:58:55 |
Killercat103 | But idk how | 20:58:56 |
Killercat103 | Like what? Uncencored content or reduced relieance on lbry.tv/odysee.com? | 20:59:32 |
Killercat103 | https://codeberg.org/MorsMortium/LBRY-GTK
Is it this one? | 21:00:20 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | Yes | 21:00:25 |
Killercat103 | Codeberg! Based! | 21:01:06 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | In reply to @killercat103:xmr.se Like what? Uncencored content or reduced relieance on lbry.tv/odysee.com? Yeah, the default lbry desktop client did censor some stuff, there is a fork somewhere, that removes that tho. And yes, if comments are disabled, it doesnt contact odysee servers | 21:02:32 |

Killercat103 | * Epic. Value privacy | 21:05:09 |
Killercat103 | Nice to not have to run yet another instance of chromium as well xd | 21:08:22 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | Yeah, that was the reason for this client. Btw, not sure if you know the current state of lbry, but it isnt too bright | 21:09:16 |
Killercat103 | Does it have to do with people leaving due to extremist content? | 21:11:48 |
Killercat103 | To be frank I'm rooting for both LBRY and PeerTube and probably more for PeerTube.
We need a YouTube competitor | 21:13:01 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | In reply to @killercat103:xmr.se Does it have to do with people leaving due to extremist content? No, thats just a very minor part of it. One of us governments branches, the sec, shutdown lbry inc, which maintained most of the infrastructure and also developed most of the software. Odysee made a promise to keep using lbry, but now the owners of it were auctioning it some days/weeks ago | 21:17:07 |
Killercat103 | Ouch | 21:17:32 |
