robfree | summary, I was just sharing some winter cycling stuff and we ended up talking a bit about some things in society related to software. That's when I recommended a book of an author that we saw in one of my psychology classes. The author is : Hannah Arendt and the book we where recommended to read it "The origins of Totalitarianism". Anyone here who's interested into free software, 1984 and related should read her book. It's great. There's also a book of hers named "The banality of Evil" that is really good as well (Thanks Francis for pointing that out). Zesty Zypper (They/Them) | Well, I have some bad news, peeps. | 02:59:00 |
Zesty Zypper (They/Them) | I was cycling to my college, and halfway through the entire trip, I was in the bike lane, going 28mph (45kmh), and I saw a lot of gravel patches in the bike lane, which usually means bad news. | 03:00:15 |
Zesty Zypper (They/Them) | I couldn't go into the car lane to doge it, so I went straight through it, and I didn't see anything bad in it. | 03:00:35 |
Zesty Zypper (They/Them) | But then I heard my front wheel topple over some metal, and then I heard and felt a violent screeching and thumping on my bike. I gently squeezed my brakes and got onto the sidewalk to see this: | 03:01:27 |

Zesty Zypper (They/Them) | It was scraping the aluminum off of my frame, but I managed to remove it by kicking it off the bike. | 03:02:47 |

bkil | Yikes, glad you made it at all! I always slow down to a safe speed if I see strange things in the distance. | 08:34:17 |
Zesty Zypper (They/Them) | In reply to @bkil:matrix.org Yikes, glad you made it at all! I always slow down to a safe speed if I see strange things in the distance. The problem was that I couldn't even see it. It was in a patch of gravel. | 08:48:52 |
Zesty Zypper (They/Them) | But yeah, I managed to fuck up my bike at just the right place: 50 meters away from a bus stop that takes me directly to my destination. | 08:49:43 |
bkil | Is riding with your bike on the bus allowed there? | 08:57:05 |
