@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadI'm trying to find a sueful map to explain the issue09:49:41
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheabut should I have excluded Herne Bay East and Herne Village? And divided Whitstable East and Herne Bay West?09:49:49
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheaor what is the other one that needs to be divided?09:50:44
@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadHerne Bay East isn't part of it.09:50:44

@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadThat map shows the KCC ward boundaries09:51:22
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheaFaversham is its own constituency though?09:52:06
@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadHere is a link to the local council district (not the constituency)09:52:12

@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadHere is a map of the constituency which as you say doesn't include faversham09:52:55
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheaok thanks - I have changed the description, although not clear enough on what is in and out to restate it more precisely09:55:06
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheaexcluding Herne Bay East is enough to tip it though by itself09:55:29
@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadI'm sorry about the quality of this, but I've just overlaid the two maps09:55:43

@LadyT:matrix.orgTheathe newspaper list includes electoral divisions I know aren't in Canterbury09:55:56
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheaand I don't know the area well enough to judge just from maps09:56:06
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheaeither way - I think you should talk to the progressive alliance because Labour are using that in their campaigning at the moment09:56:44
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheafor now I think my conclusion is valid - it's TBC because it's not totally clear, but I think the Lib Dems are the most likely tactical choice right now09:57:23
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheaand thanks for the amendment on the locals09:57:30
@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadHere was James Flanagan's press statement on the results:09:57:43
@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadOn the new boundaries, Ida Linfield was elected to Kent County Council – the Liberal Democrats are now the official opposition on the council. In terms of vote share for the parliamentary constituency, the Liberal Democrats came second ahead of Labour: Conservative 42.2%, Lib Dem 23.5%, Labour 22.0%. Labour have no county seats in the Canterbury District, and in terms of changes against the General Election 2015 vote the Conservatives were down 0.7%, Labour down 2.5%, the Liberal Democrats up by 11.7%. We are the real challengers to the Conservatives in Canterbury and Whitstable, heading back to at least our 2010 level of support.09:57:44
@LadyT:matrix.orgThealocals aren't good predictors of general elections though09:58:09
@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadI'm talking to the PA.09:58:14
@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadYes I agree, but the main dimension is the Brexit issue09:58:32
@grebehead:matrix.orgGrebeheadThe Lab candidate is pro Brexit now09:58:41
@LadyT:matrix.orgTheathe turnout is too low09:58:44
