| justinl | FWIW, in my dev environment, the rsync goes to three servers (localhost and 2 web servers), each one receiving 7 full copies of MediaWiki and all extensions we use (need to move to a single-copy family design next year), so that's ~30k files per wiki per server, or about 7x30k=210k files to check/rsync to each server, so 630k and that's just dev. There are 6 live servers, so triple that count there. | 20:12:15 |

| justinl | Another reason it can take longer is when actually deploying updated code, at the very least most files have timestamp changes that have to be executed, plus printing the results as it runs slows down the process, so yeah, I can see now how a real deploy in the live environment with actual code changes, including lots of timestamp updates, could take much much longer than 15 minutes. | 20:27:39 |

Also, I forgot to take a snapshot of one of my two db clusters prior to upgrading to 1.39.10 and 4.2 and running update.php but no edits have been made, so i took one afterwards. If for some reason I needed to roll back to 1.39.7 and 4.1.3, would it still be fine even though I ran update.php against the wikis in that cluster? | 14:53:07 |
