robertobeltran | we're planning on going to a hackerspace maybe next week saturday or something to libreboot some x200Ts and hopefully cut a relationship with the space | 14:52:20 |
robertobeltran | I'm thinking we can end up maybe doing a quarterly librebooting meetup/workshop at one of the spaces | 14:55:10 |
robertobeltran | but yeah felix, just let us know what Saturday you have availability on, and I'll come back with some hackerspace options | 14:59:32 |
orangeshark | okay cool | 16:45:45 |
orangeshark | https://gustedt.wordpress.com/2019/09/18/modern-c-second-edition/ Found a new book on Modern C which is freely available and under a CC license | 16:57:58 |
sudofelix | I have dental surgery on friday the 27th and i know you're not available this weekend so realistically it won't be until mid October saturday if you're limited to saturdays | 17:52:59 |

orangeshark | I just got the email from purism about the Librem 5. I wonder what batch should I choose | 02:16:03 |
robertobeltran | Whoa, they started shipping? | 02:17:57 |
orangeshark | the end of the month starts the first batch | 02:18:20 |
orangeshark | https://puri.sm/posts/librem-5-shipping-announcement/ | 02:18:54 |
robertobeltran | They're gonna be RYF, nice! | 02:20:52 |
robertobeltran | which batches are you considering? | 02:25:18 |
orangeshark | stil thinking about it. Would be nice to get it as soon as possible, but would be great if they work out some of the issues first... | 02:25:51 |
robertobeltran | True, I feel like there is some collector value to those handcrafted unfinished switch caps though lol | 02:30:07 |
sudofelix | Batch Aspen sounds like an unpolished design. Initialy they were supposed to ship beginning 2019 and I think they're probably rush-jobbing it out now so people don't get pissed | 15:17:58 |

sudofelix | btw I did some digging on hackerspaces around Miami and they all seem to have gone out of buisness. The only one that seems be alive is HACKMIAMI and their site hasn't been updated in 2 years except for the their twitter feed is still 2019 active. Rob, you want to take a stab at getting ahold of them? | 14:55:15 |
orangeshark | Don't think a lot of tech groups survive in Miami | 14:57:30 |
robertobeltran | Oh I think HACKMIAMI is more like a security group. They're def still active, they just had a meet up last week. I still need to promote to them, but we need something more like a makerspace with work tables and soldering stuff like this: | 15:19:34 |

robertobeltran | I know there's another one up north that has open house on saturdays and there might still be one at FIU south campus that's also open to the public | 15:20:23 |
robertobeltran | (sorry if there's proprietary javascript on that link) | 15:23:30 |
