itcomesfromchina: I have never tried this, but texinfo could be better. You only have to write once and get output in different formats. https://www.gnu.org/software/texinfo/

I'll take a look, so far Zim is coming pretty close if I can get the page size output nailed down so only a page's relevant content is shown instead of half of the next page showing. I like it because you can output PDF ,or html/wiki so the "manual" can be pretty portable and/or easily navigatable

14:42:49@itcomesfromchina:matrix.orgitcomesfromchina robertobeltran I checked out libre office writer but as I got into it it seemed like it would require downloading additional templates at least to do it as easily as Zim so far. The manual I want to create is one where people making sales calls can get set up using free software. Libre office is one of the pieces of software in the guide. So far my rough draft line up is - libre office calc,taskcoach,zoiper5,pidgin but reconsidering gajim and a few others. Something linuxPA-like that can be all standalone apps someone can run from usb would be nice.

16:53:35@jgarte:matrix.orgjgarteabiword is a lighter alternative to libreoffice writer. Not sure if it is still be developed
17:00:49@jgarte:matrix.orgjgartezim looks good for what you described. Emacs or vim with one of the typesetting engines above would probably do the same or similar but the learning curve and time investment might not be practical for the employees

There was one time like years ago I lost data using abiword because no recovery and I swore off it since lol things might be different now though
18:30:04@robertobeltran:matrix.orgrobertobeltran itcomesfromchina: if zim does it for you, then for sure do that. If you're looking for options like that you might also consider just writing .md files doing one of these things https://gist.github.com/justincbagley/ec0a6334cc86e854715e459349ab1446
19:23:55@jgarte:matrix.orgjgarte @robertobeltran:matrix.org: I'm not sure if it is still being developed any longer.

11:55:33@lm8:matrix.orglm8A friend used to do her publications with lyx. Scribus is also good if you need a desktop publisher.
