jgart | Emacs and the Debug Adapter Protocol; dap-mode debugging demo | 18:31:03 |
jgart |
Let's meet virtually to discuss using Emacs and dap-mode to debug applications written in languages like JavaScript, Python, and Rust. After a demo there will be a general discussion of all things Emacs-related (configuration, elisp, org-mode, magit, org-roam, lsp, favorite packages, etc.) All level of Emacs experience welcome. Bring your questions, recommendations, and/or a lightning talk (short demo) if you'd like to.

jgart | In reply to @ryanprior:matrix.org Nice, who's demoing? https://github.com/wrightmikea | 04:38:09 |
jgart | ryanprior: That's the person who is hosting the event. I'm not sure if anyone is invited to demo. I imagine it will probably be him, though. | 04:41:27 |
ryanprior | Neat. I already use Emacs+LSP daily, so not sure I'd benefit from the demo personally, but it's great to see people doing that work! | 04:42:13 |
jgart | Are you using dap-mode? | 04:43:05 |
jgart | I've started using eglot but it doesn't support dap-mode | 04:44:49 |
ryanprior | I have used dap-mode a lot in the past but not recently. | 04:47:13 |
jgart | I used rnix-lsp the other day with eglot. It's nice. Guix might benefit from a language server some day | 04:47:15 |

ryanprior | I've asked around a few lisp communities about that, and found something surprising: a lot of people insist that lisp does not need code formatting, because it's obvious to everyone how lisp code should be formatted. | 04:56:01 |
jgart | hmmm, I've heard it can actually be quite difficult to implement one because the formatting style can vary. In other words, there is not one observed universal way that every lisper formats their code. | 04:59:26 |

jgart | We'd all have to agree on how exactly to format our lisp/scheme code | 05:01:25 |
