@_discord_677652854835642378:t2bot.io.sen_mik oh, -ed is hard for me for sure, one of my problems with languages like Novial is that ending 14:28:31
@_discord_860934264434720809:t2bot.iodobridensky We will see where Ekumenski is heading to. And should it become clear one day that this ending is problematic, I might replace it by -eu. This might sound strange first, but it is backed by Portuguese (past tense ending in 3rd person sg.), Polish (where its spelling is ł) and Serbo-Croatian with its "-o" vocalization of common Slavic -l.

On the other hand, if one wanted to keep the original Slavic -l for this purpose, it would be very difficult to remove all nouns ending in -el.
14:33:01
@_discord_677652854835642378:t2bot.io.sen_mik -l would be a mistake, because it is just masculin form, there are also -la and -lo and -li for other forms. -eu might have the same problem - it is too similar to present tense -e 14:35:31
@_discord_677652854835642378:t2bot.io.sen_mik unless you change stress like in Occ: vide -> videt 14:36:04
@_discord_677652854835642378:t2bot.io.sen_mik that's what I did in Meshanka: ona víde (present) -> ona uvidé (past perf.) 14:37:33
@_discord_860934264434720809:t2bot.iodobridensky This would be a sacrilege in Ekumenski. 😃
Well, we will see to that. I will have to make some more voice recordings of the language this year, and maybe play a bit with alternative past tense endings before we get a clear picture.

@_discord_860934264434720809:t2bot.iodobridensky Some news on Ekumenski’s vocabulary

The word for “knee” has been slightly altered for (hopefully) a last time: knij would have been the only word in the language with -ij in the coda. This might lead to questions on how it is supposed to be pronounced exactly. Hence, the vowel was adapted to the forms the word has in North Germanic languages (Icelandic kné, Norwegian kne, Swedish knä, Danish knæ). With the word being knej now, it also corresponds to the form it has in Luxembourgish.

From another one of the smaller European language, Scots, Ekumenski has got gin “against”, “nearby”, “towards”, e. g. gin nox, gin di end de ti jar, gin ost.

Further changes:

lice “may”, “be allowed to” > derfe (cf. Novial darfa, from DE dürfen, with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd person sg. having -a- instead of -ü-); and

deri “their” > lori, which gets Ekumenski closer to its main source of inspiration Universalglot, as well as to Occidental.
The personal and possessive pronouns are thus: me – mei; te – tei; el – sui; nos – nosi; vu – vui; zi – lori.
The possessive forms are thus derived from the personal pronouns by adding -i, excepted the 3rd person sg. and pl.

@_discord_860934264434720809:t2bot.iodobridensky Different approaches in Ekumenski and Masa Tang

Words from Ancient Greek that end in -ics (mostly) in English, -ica in Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, -ika in Slavic and Baltic languages as well as in Hungarian, and -kka in Finnish are treated as follows in Ekumenski and Masa Tang:

EN: politics n. – political (e. g. “a political question”; “a political problem”) – politician
ES: política n. – político/-a (“una cuestión política”; “un problema político”) – político

EN: technology; technique – technical – technician
ES: técnica – técnico/-a – técnico

ě: politik – politikli ("[en] politikli frog"; "[en] politikli problem" * ) – politiker
(first syllable stressed, as in e. g. Finnish, Czech and Slovak, Hungarian)

ŋ: politik – politik ("[kwam] pit politik"; "mungdoi politik" * )– nak (fai) politik
(second-to-last syllable stressed)

ě: teknik – teknikli – tekniker
ŋ: teknik – teknik – nak/tukang teknik

* In Ekumenski, the indefinite article en can be dropped. In Masa Tang, the classifier kwam denoting an abstract noun derived from a verb, adjective, adverb or another noun might be dropped here too.
