@flancian:matrix.orgflancian 🍄I am asking if the community would object to waiting some days until we have a backup of the more than 500 relationships that will be severed when we suspend, and the CWG (our stewards of community building) review the results. I don't see why this needs to be inflammatory. All confrontational language is a distraction from what we need to achieve here IMHO: an outcome that is minimally hurtful to all parties within reason.23:12:50
@flancian:matrix.orgflancian 🍄I don't see this as related to scale of the instance but rather number of the relationships cut. I don't think any instance suspension has had such impact before (please correct me if I'm wrong/something like this happened before my time).23:13:47
@flancian:matrix.orgflancian 🍄 Finally, can we acknowledge I voted to suspend and not to grant an exception to our policies and I'm acting under the working assumption the first vote will pass and the second will not? In which way do you think I am misreading, mishandling or worsening the situation @3wc:autonomic.zone? Thank you for clarifying. 23:18:28

Note also it was the CWG who asked to wait until after the monthly meeting to enforce.23:21:11

But what if we had a good logo that was also homey, as part of the design requirements?
Gave it a go

thank you Melissa! I appreciate that a lot! don't worry, it's all fine, it has felt like work but I think this is just a side effect of how sensitive a topic this is because of how it interacts with personal experience and what feels like a safe space to each individual.

@afewbugs:matrix.orgafewbugsI'd definitely be up for migrating if we did! Currently on pixelfed.de but will probably get booted off if the import function ever works properly and my footage of Palestinie demos with slogans illegal in Germany loads 14:56:51

I think you made a good call there. Seeing the past moderation numbers (allows no real cases of needed intervention), it looks like right now, rushing the process would have more impact than taking it slow. Even if doing it carefully makes the process somewhat slower, it seems the right thing to do.

@eldelacajita:matrix.orgJorgeI hope I'm not wrong, but I don't think interactions in/with Threads are going to change in a couple of weeks just because their policy changed.15:14:10
@3wc:autonomic.zone3wc ~ they/them flancian 🍄: I think it might help for us to have a quick call about it, text (and instant message especially) is quite a difficult medium. and i think it'if you're willing, maybe someone would be willing to join us to help facilitate? 15:27:28

@3wc:autonomic.zone3wc ~ they/themin the meantime I'll say that I meant "pushing" as a neutral description. maybe "autonomously enacting" would have been clearer15:28:33

and, on the technical issue around backing up follow relationships which would be severed by defederation: I discovered today that mastodon has this feature. on another server I'm on I got this notification:

You may lose follows and followers when you block a domain or when your moderators decide to suspend a remote server. When that happens, you will be able to download lists of severed relationships, to be inspected and possibly imported on another server.

@3wc:autonomic.zone3wc ~ they/themI'll also be happy to spend a few minutes making a script to export follow relationship data15:40:49
@3wc:autonomic.zone3wc ~ they/themso I don't think the backup needs to delay anything 🙂 15:40:57

(I think it was a little different, it included the actual domain of the server. but the notification disappeared and I can't find the message I saw in the mastodon source ðŸĪŠ)

@dphiffer:matrix.orgdphifferI'm willing to facilitate, if you're looking for volunteers. But I also wonder if this is something CWG ops could formally offer, like a 1:1 facilitation for members to help work out sticky subjects.15:43:12
@inkdroid:matrix.orgedsu Oh interesting, thanks for that info 3wc ~ they/them -- if the documentation is to be trusted we should be able to download these severed relationships here? https://social.coop/severed_relationships 15:53:29

@dphiffer:matrix.orgdphifferCould we do a test case, like suspend a single user instance and see what it looks like?15:54:19

100% agree it'd be wonderful to have a structure. given that you've offered, then if Flancian is willing I have a slight preference for going ahead, then working to establish what the CWG offer for future, given that this situation is ongoing.

@eldelacajita:matrix.orgJorgeQuestion about the ongoing vote, as I'm new to Loomio: I expected to see arguments that could help me understand the different perspectives before voting, but I just see that people have voted, no other comments. Where is the debate taking place, apart of some comments in this chat? Or are people just not commenting on this?16:20:54

My bad, just saw them at the bottom of the thread.
