@_slack_hotosm_UCSBRFZUK:matrix.orgKathyaus Hi team I've been having issues today when trying to validate multiple tiles and loading imagery into JOSM. If I try to validate more than 3 tiles, it will not load all of the mapping in JOSM. I have to reload imagery to get everything loaded. Using JOSM 19253 Java 21.0.3 with TM in Chrome browser. 12:02:13

@_slack_hotosm_ULPKSCD47:matrix.orgmartien https://hotosm.slack.com/archives/C319P09PB/p1718997016201369 It looks like this issue is bugging you. 14:15:27

@_slack_hotosm_U07787CRJH0:matrix.orgGregory Peony Kathyaus I have a few questions regarding your issue; 1. Were you using the project task grid when this error occured? 1.a. If so then please check if the remaining data was loaded into the task grid layer (or any other data layer you had open before importing the data of multiple tasks). 1.b. If not then did the map data create multiple new layers and load the data into multiple layers? 2. What do you mean by 'reloading imagery' i.e. what steps do you need to take to perform this action/process? Are you refering to reloading your editor via the Tasking Manager? 14:14:48
@_slack_hotosm_U07787CRJH0:matrix.orgGregory Peony 3. Were you manually confirming the import of data? 14:28:44

@_slack_hotosm_U07787CRJH0:matrix.orgGregory Peony 1. I meant, did you have a task grid layer open in JOSM? 3. Did you have 'confirm all remote control actions manually' selected in the remote control preferences? If you're not using a task grid layer then you can select the data layers, then right click and merge them using the layers panel. I've submitted a ticket regarding the issue lnked to by Martien. It does have similarities. 02:02:19
@_slack_hotosm_UCSBRFZUK:matrix.orgKathyaus Thanks Greg - it happened each time I tried validating more than 3 tiles. I had forgotten about being able to merge data layers - thanks for the tip, and thanks for lodging the ticket. 🙂 02:25:26
@_slack_hotosm_ULPKSCD47:matrix.orgmartien I wonder how many tasks were missed by validators who are not aware of this issue. 10:36:01
@_slack_hotosm_UCSBRFZUK:matrix.orgKathyaus That's a very good question. 10:54:29
@arnold_nkwabong:matrix.orgarnold_nkwabongwhen i faced this issue i just reload my editor via the TM14:31:40
@_slack_hotosm_U07787CRJH0:matrix.orgGregory Peony I would guess that the proportion of 'missed tasks' is rather low, but it depends on the workflow of the validators. I think that the proportion will be low becasue first and foremost it's a random error so it'll only occurs 1 in X times, it only occurs if you have manual confirmation of remote control actions enabled and only during multitask validation, I don't think it's too difficult to spot (especially if adjacent tasks are chosen), and a validator should generally be catching it when they're marking which tasks have or have not been well mapped. The facts that it introduces this risk, and that it reduces validation efficiency are good reasons to want it resolved. Even if it has never resulted in 'invalid' validation. I think that is could be quite difficult if not impossible to find out how many tasks may have slipped under the radar due to this issue. 14:45:23

@_slack_hotosm_ULPKSCD47:matrix.orgmartien Hi Gregory Peony, > it only occurs if you have manual confirmation of remote control actions enabled I guess you are pointing to this setting, see screenshot? If so, when i encountered the issue lately, i did not have that setting enabled. It is a setting that is default disabled, so i think Kathy also had it disabled. > I don't think it's too difficult to spot Depends indeed on your workflow. But i think validators who do a lot of tasks simultaneous, and spread over a wide area, should be very careful. > The facts that it introduces this risk, and that it reduces validation efficiency are good reasons to want it resolved. https://josm.openstreetmap.de/ticket/23821#comment:17 I am confused about the status of the ticket. Did you open a new ticket? 11:10:46
@_slack_hotosm_UCSBRFZUK:matrix.orgKathyaus Hi Greg Following up on what Martien has said - I was unaware of the manual confirmation setting, so yes I had it disabled. 21:19:44

@_slack_hotosm_U07787CRJH0:matrix.orgGregory Peony Hi martien thanks for your reply. > I guess you are pointing to this setting, see screenshot? That's right, yes. The reason I thought that enabling manual confirmation was necessary is becasue the error was not reproduced for months (if not longer) and I was unable to reproduce the error when I dissabled the setting. The problem was then reproduced after I submitted a reproduction procedure which mentioned enabling manual confirmation. Kathyaus Thank you for confirming, it's good to know that this also affects those who do not manually confirm the import of data into JOSM. > But i think validators who do a lot of tasks simultaneous, and spread over a wide area, should be very careful. Agreed. I'll post an update in the main thread (based on this conversation) on how to minimise the likelihood of being impacted by this error in the meantime. > I am confused about the status of the ticket. Did you open a new ticket? I wanted to open one earlier but yes, I opened a follow up ticket a few days ago. 20:27:06

@_slack_hotosm_U07787CRJH0:matrix.orgGregory Peony I am currently conducting testing of the new tasking manager API and want to know: what is the definition of a project card? The following examples demonstrate my current assumption; Fig.1. Contains 8 project cards on the explore projects page. Fig.2. Does not contain a project card. Fig.3. Contains 4 project cards in the similar projects section. Correct? Fig.4. I don't know whether projects displayed in line/table view count as project cards. 14:35:11

@_slack_hotosm_U05P1KL644R:matrix.orgmanjita pandey hi Gregory Peony, your understanding seems right. By project cards, we mean the number of projects shown on card view. Fig 1 is exactly what we called project cards (one for each project). Second pic is project details page, which is not in form of card. Your assumption on third one is also correct. On the last image, we have shown the same projects on list view. Each row is a project but the style is different. 04:40:31
@_slack_hotosm_UNKGQPYUT:matrix.orgdinar.adiatma Jochen Stier Benni Apologies if this has been asked before, but is it possible to get the list of OSM accounts and their contributions using only the hashtag? 05:37:54
@_slack_hotosm_U05JQ6B75E0:matrix.orgJochen Stier Currently this is not possible via stats.now.ohsome.org tho we might dive deeper into user specific stats in the future 🙂 09:41:56
@_slack_hotosm_U8CV0JHSM:matrix.orgBenni dinar.adiatma if this is something you need once in a while, we could derive this for you on a per request basis. This would also allows us to better understand how you want to use the numbers. We can calculate these things, but we have not implemented an API endpoint for this yet. Your feedback and insights could guide us how such a API endpoint could look like in the future. 16:26:54
@_slack_hotosm_U3B19K2TX:matrix.orgwisemana This used to be an option with the old leaderboard, you could do competitions or give prizes to people who mapped the most. Or just bragging rights. It can also serve to show who didn't actually map much at all 22:35:43

@_slack_hotosm_UNKGQPYUT:matrix.orgdinar.adiatma As wisemana pointed out, I'm looking for contributors using the hashtag #SOTMAsia2024. I often use the same hashtag for various projects on the same theme, so tracking individual stats with a specific hashtag is simpler than reviewing each project separately Benni thanks for your help 02:45:40
@_slack_hotosm_U3B19K2TX:matrix.orgwisemana Yeah we did something similar, i found the most active mappers who used a certain hashtag and suggested they become validators 19:34:09
