moritz | * Hi Alistair. Sorry I never saw your earlier message, for some reason I cannot find it anywhere. (edit: ah, that was just accidentally added to the quote, right?)
Dennis was very vague about any details and prefers not to have any of it public. I want to respect that and I'm sure you understand.

@al:alistair23.me | No worries. I submitted a ticket, so hopefully Dennis can help me as well | 06:59:56 |
moritz | He was very friendly and helpful. There was a bit of a delay between messages and the whole thing took about 11 days because of that, but that's mostly because of time-zones and real-life getting in the way. The actual steps you'll be required to do are rather straightforward | 07:00:23 |

moritz | Alistair: did everything work out? | 20:03:10 |
@al:alistair23.me | Hey! Yep it did. Resulted in Dennis remoting into a friends computer to help debug why it wasn't working. But robot is zooming around now :) | 22:51:12 |

tempuris | Hey tjhowse, you still here? I also own an S7, saw your message and wanted to ask how did your adventure end? Have you successfully flashed your device? | 18:48:33 |
tempuris | Hi people, I'm considering flashing my robot. I think that it's a good idea to back up the original FW before patching, so that I can roll back when something goes wrong. Do you think that there is any feasible way to back up the original firmware using the FEL interface? (In a recoverable way of course) | 18:53:33 |

Paweł Klebba | Hello everyone. I wonder if someone has experience with Viomi v8 (aka Xiaomi STYTJ02YM) devices? After grabbing u-boot shell via UART (which was really challenging as I needed to hardware disable eMMC during boot) and installing firmware from dustbuilder, it looks like there are no wlan drivers available. I suppose it's because dustcloud uses binary from v6 as a template and there are some differences (dunno which one, as v6, v7 and v8 have the same board). My bad is that I didn't make a backup of the flash storage. But the problem is that the original v8 firmware from OEM is encrypted and I can't even restore it now to the previous stage. So, any ideas on how to deal with that? I wish I could find at least an unencrypted kernel (or the source code including kernel config)... | 13:11:59 |

estebanium | Hello everyone. I have a Roborock S50 and some issues during the flashing process. Can someone help me? | 06:52:05 |
estebanium | I calculated, that I would need 21 Minutes in order to upload the firmware to the robot. It uploads 4% every minute. However, it will fail between 35 and 65%. My suspicion is, that the WiFi Dongle is that slow and not really supported. What is your experience? Is 4% realistic? | 07:31:39 |

estebanium | It turned out, that it was my WIFIs driver under ubuntu. I found a repository with a better driver and that flashed the firmware in minutes. | 12:41:00 |
