Sorry, I mean, does it have any form of access to files on my device in general?
File access is separated. By default you have two files apps which both have access to different files.
19:49:57
@maxammann:matrix.orgmaxammannYour device admin may allow you to share file files between the profiles. E.g. Shelter(https://f-droid.org/de/packages/net.typeblog.shelter/) has an option to share files through the files app. 19:51:01
@pathofneo:matrix.orgpathofneoI'm confused. When installing apps from Google Play, is it possible to install those apps for all users of the same device at the same time, or do I need to install separated Google Plays for every account, while also doing separated app installs for every account, one account at time?19:51:07
@pathofneo:matrix.orgpathofneoAlso I know thst Owner account is basically administator account, but does that make big differrence when installing apps?19:51:14
@maxammann:matrix.orgmaxammannSharing files via the android share functionality works between work and normal profiles.19:51:17

You need to have separated Google Plays and everything :)

@aggos:matrix.orgaggos maxammann: Oh that's awesome then! I wanted to maybe be able to share photos across my one profiles where I will use google camera occasionally, felt annoying to have them totally separated. Thank you! 19:51:51
@maxammann:matrix.orgmaxammannE.g. Shelter does allow you to clone the apps.19:52:05
@aggos:matrix.orgaggosSo when GrapheneOS talks about work profiles, is that in reference to running Shelter? 19:52:37

I went a very similar path about two weeks ago :D I wanted to have the camera in the work profile and all the other stuff in the main profile. But sadly it did not turn out well for me. E.g. some features did not integrate that well with some features like sharing images so Signal.

In the end I said: screw that! I'm just using one profile :D
I think Google Maps also had some features which were not well usable.

I don't think so necessarily. Though some people (including me ) experimented with Shelter :D

@aggos:matrix.orgaggosso you just happen to have all your apps within one profile? How does that work out in terms of privacy then? Sorry to ask all these questions, I'm trying to learn the details of how these things work! 19:56:11
@pathofneo:matrix.orgpathofneoI can't find any info about Shelter in Graphene's webpage...19:56:41
@ellipse6621:matrix.orgellipse6621Does anyone know if its necessary to regularly delete remembered WiFi networks to prevent the list from being broadcast and being used as an unique identifier or does GOS do something to prevent this?19:57:37
@aggos:matrix.orgaggos pathofneo: so then what does it mean to set up a work profile? I just added a new user. I heard that a work profile allows for toggling of what apps are active, but I don't see anything on my phone to set that up (most updated GrapheneOS) 19:58:15
@bobby-t:matrix.orgbobby-tHi aggos, afaik only user profiles as in separate android users are supplied with graphene os.19:59:52
@bobby-t:matrix.orgbobby-tYou can create over 10 of those. This separates your apps/data quite wenn but is a bit clunky/not as smooth as some would like.20:00:47
@aggos:matrix.orgaggosthanks! One final question related to the notification forwarding between profiles. I understood is that once a profile is closed, none of the apps are running anymore. So how can the apps forward notifications? That would suggest they are running in the background AND have internet access20:01:40
@bobby-t:matrix.orgbobby-tAs to toggeling which apps are active or not, GrapheneOS allows you to just deactivate apps/set them to inactive in the settings menu.20:02:12
@bobby-t:matrix.orgbobby-tCould you specify 'closed'?20:03:17
@aggos:matrix.orgaggosOk, so when I hit "log out" of my second profile and return to my main profile. Does that mean none of those apps can run anymore? If so, then how can they forward notifications? Thus, if you turn on notification forwarding, doesn't that mean there is a privacy risk involved since those apps must be constantly running in the background anyway? 20:05:33
@fuhgeddaboudit:matrix.orgfuhgeddaboudit 🇮🇲Is there a way to export bookmarks in Vanadium? I have a few hundred I'd like to export20:05:56

You can switch sessions and get notifications, or end session and you won't
20:08:46
@bobby-t:matrix.orgbobby-tIt is my understanding that if you do log out (not switch the user!) all apps should be terminated and therefore you should get no notifications. I don't quite understand the privacy issue you are referring to since this should be mostly down to the privacy-friendlyness of the app thats running.20:11:00
@aggos:matrix.orgaggosok. Got it. Yeah, the apps I was thinking about are not necessarily privacy friendly, so I definitely will make sure my use is limited and I log out to terminate them. Thank you so much everyone! 20:12:37
@fuhgeddaboudit:matrix.orgfuhgeddaboudit 🇮🇲* You can switch sessions and get notifications, or end session and you won't. If you need to leave something running to get notifications, then you're probably not concerned about privacy for that app20:12:41
@pathofneo:matrix.orgpathofneoCan an app installed from Google Play get information about the user who downloaded the app from Google Play? So if Jimmy downloaded an app from Google Play, does the app get information from the phone that it was from Jimmy's Google account?20:12:48
@bobby-t:matrix.orgbobby-t GrapheneOS Bridge: google playmarket installed correctly the 2nd try, but only one of the dependencies was installed successfully (play services failed again) is this a usable setup or are there any troubleshooting steps required? 20:16:31
@bobby-t:matrix.orgbobby-tWhat is grapheneos bridge btw? It is somewhat confusing me xD20:17:24
