@da-anda:matrix.orgda-anda (Team KODI)have you checked CPU usage during playback? If the video is not hardware decoded, it is possible that the CPU can not handle your input signals just as fast as without video playback.12:52:42
@bgtlover:stealthy.clubbgt loverdoes kodi use pipewire for video as well, the same way it does for audio?13:10:02
@_slack_teamkodi_U049SEDUNRJ:matrix.orgneo1973 No, that wouldn't make sense in the context of Kodi. 13:13:15
@bgtlover:stealthy.clubbgt loverahh right, only for video capturing I suppose, because that's what firefox uses it for13:36:12

No Android TV and Pb are launchers. We are designed for media playback first and can do launcher related things but aren’t focused on ‘launching’ things.
They are much more than launchers and Kodi is much more than playback, obviously. I'm just saying that in practical terms they pretty much cover the same ground. That it is so is a consequence of TV's nature, that being by and large a media consumption device.

@trajanus:matrix.orgtrajanusI just installed latest LibreELEC on RaspberryPI4 but have been struggling unsuccessfully for several days trying to connect my KODI-PI to my QNAP TS-1655 NAS that holds all my music (FLAC) and all my video files (MP4, MKV, etc). Docs I've found so far don't show where/how to set up KODI to be an SMB or NFS client to my NAS or what versions of SMB and NFS are supported by KODI. I have SSH access to my KODI-PI if I need to manually edit some xml config files. Are there any official KODI (or 3rd party) docs/links showing how to properly configure KODI to source its content from a local LAN-based NAS?01:59:40
@lrusak:matrix.orglrusak

trajanus: check the wiki

@trajanus:matrix.orgtrajanusUnfortunately the above links are well out of date for NFS w.r.t QNAP and the SMB link is a link to the SAMBA site.20:36:49
@trajanus:matrix.orgtrajanusDoes stock KODI support NFS and SMB out-of-the-box or must additional add-ons be downloaded, installed and configured first?20:37:32
@_slack_teamkodi_U07J7TDRU:matrix.orgkeith Both are out of the box 20:47:58
@lrusak:matrix.orglrusak

trajanus: what makes you think they are out of date?

You just use them when adding a normal video/music souce

@trajanus:matrix.orgtrajanusI'm using QNAP's latest ZFS-based NAS OS (QuTS hero 5.2.0) which is rather different from the examples above. In any case, my NFS settings are properly configured according to QNAP Tech support. The issue is I'm unable to find configuration details and screenshots for where/how to establish an NFS connection in the KODI interface.00:58:28
@trajanus:matrix.orgtrajanusThe link you provided above has a detailed sequence updated for version 21 that I'll try.01:00:20
@trajanus:matrix.orgtrajanusThere seems to be no way to conveniently edit network settings from a basic remote other than one-character-at-a-time. That adding video sources link above does not show how to add NFS but rather an example of a non-networked drive. 01:28:43
@_slack_teamkodi_U011D2A0KFY:matrix.orgblack eagle trajanus: You just need to navigate down to "Add network file system (nfs)" and click on that. Kodi should then show a list of NFS servers that you can navigate into and select a directory from. You can also (in step 5 of the linked part of the wiki) navigate to the bottom of the list where the last entry is "Add network location" which will allow you to specify an ip address and the type of server (webdav / http / ftp / nfs / smb etc). 06:22:22

@davidhenrythoreau:matrix.org@davidhenrythoreau:matrix.orgHi, I'm using latest stable kodi version I've got 4K screen but on preferences only max 1080p resolutions is listed How can I update to 4K ?07:47:42
@_slack_teamkodi_U011D2A0KFY:matrix.orgblack eagle davidhenrythoreau: The setting only affects the GUI, it has no effect on playback. 08:12:27
@davidhenrythoreau:matrix.org@davidhenrythoreau:matrix.orgOk so , if the video is 4K encoded Kodi will play it as 4K ? 08:14:35
@_slack_teamkodi_U011D2A0KFY:matrix.orgblack eagle Yes 08:15:42
@davidhenrythoreau:matrix.org@davidhenrythoreau:matrix.orgRight thanks for answer I'm gonna try it ! 👍️08:16:14
