@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9 and then they broke the form factor lol 14:36:18
@rendeko:matrix.orgrendekoCHIP comes from an unreliable vendor, unfortunately.16:20:16
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9 i’m pretty hot on vocore 2 rn 17:23:33
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelen joined the room.20:17:16
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenAre you guys doing operating system development? I stumbled across your gitea setup and I see cool stuff like genode and sel420:19:32
18 Jul 2019
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9trying to anyway I don’t really know what I’m doing lol it’s all super interesting though02:36:05
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9right now it’s pretty much a Linux distro02:37:15
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9so not really OS dev and not finished enough to really install either. getting there though. i’m kind of tied up on infrastructure projects right now once our source hut system is online will be able to start actually doing stuff02:38:07
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenis the end goal an operating system?02:39:34
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9The plan is to eventually replace Linux with a microkernel I’m personally inclined to write it in scheme and forth but we will have to see what we do when we get there02:40:02
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9so yes 😊02:40:16
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenah you're a forth heretic lol02:41:23
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenI've been doing operating system development in rust02:41:35
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9 rust is too complex for my taste 02:41:59
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenwhat do you think of C? and have you taken a look at Zig?02:53:32
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9C calling conventions are pretty much unavoidable at this point, but Actually writing C is extremely error prone. i’m a huge fan of open BSD but the better discipline it takes to maintain that kind of code base I think it is not scalable02:59:10
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenyeah I feel the same way about C, it's way too easy to accidentally introduce bugs02:59:44
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9zig is interesting but I haven’t dug too deep into it yet02:59:52
19 Jul 2019
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenokay I've been reading into solarpunk and sunshine gardens and I can get behind a lot of your goals07:56:43
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenwhat projects are being worked on right now?07:57:10
@cow2001:matrix.heldscal.la@cow2001:matrix.heldscal.layes, you're idealistic!08:14:40
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9 nomad and build infra are top priority right now. once our source hut instance is up and running i’ll be focusing on tracker and p2p standards. 14:10:29
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9 i believe we’ll also be doing some stuff with libreboot and hosting an fdroid repo 14:12:34
@xj9:sunshinegardens.orgxj9i’m trying to start a hackbase in salt lake city, utah14:14:18
@uelen:riot.firechicken.netuelenwhat's nomad?19:02:54
