@wolftune:matrix.orgwolftuneRecent discussion led to proposing "tuning diversity" as a better term rather than terms like xenharmonic or microtonal or alternative-tunings… just wanted to share the thought here21:36:03

@wolftune:matrix.orgwolftune * Recent discussion led to proposing "tuning diversity" as a better broad overall term compared with terms like xenharmonic or microtonal or alternative-tunings… just wanted to share the thought here17:36:30
@uvknhn:matrix.orgDylan BarryI think something like "all tunings" (not literally that, but a word that means that) would be ideal. I may have heard something like that before, but I'm not sure. Pantonality or something.21:18:23
@uvknhn:matrix.orgDylan Barry"tuning diversity" I feel is clunkier to say than xenharmony or microtonality, but the latter two terms definitely fall short etymologically.21:21:50

@aproc:4d2.orgaprochello fellow xenharmonists! I'm a composer of classical music. I briefly studied under Wolfgang Schweinitz at calarts; he taught a class on Schoenberg that made me finally understand 12-tone music, and later when taking lessons from him I told him I was interested in 22edo and he said "just write a serial piece!" and my mind is still being blown by this realization, lol. These days, I just try and include a good microtone when I have the typographical acumen forthwith in which to do so23:22:55

@aproc:4d2.orgaprochttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_bqzVJ4eAM this here's one of my latest works, and it utilizes a very amateurish just-intonation system that I'm calling my personal typographical vanguard until my ears learn to hear quite a bit more. 06:37:16

@aproc:4d2.orgaprocjust gave it a listen—very cool! The bit at 16 is probably my favorite part, I love those intervals and I think a good performer could realize the microtones in a very cool way. I'd love to hear the other pieces in the series :D21:29:49
