SK | anyone has knowledge about the notification system in the frontend? | 13:48:45 |
Harald | Not in depth, but what are you wondering about? | 17:38:07 |
SK | i was working on a custom theme and wanted to move the notification block to a dropdown in the navbar but its not working as expected. was wondering if moving a widget to navbar breaks it? | 17:42:59 |
Harald | That may be, I would suspect you either would have to override the widget or create a new one. | 17:48:34 |
Harald | You should be able to make a new template for it by placing it in your theme's tpl directory. If it has the same name as the existing template it will be loaded instead. | 17:49:32 |
SK | yes, i'm thinking of making it from scratch since it would require a lot of changes. So a custom widget would be a better approach | 17:59:33 |
Harald | That's probably the way to go. | 18:00:55 |
SK | In reply to @snakebite:matrix.org That's probably the way to go. thankyou, i figured out the issue. | 18:23:48 |
Harald | Awesome! What was is? | 18:30:53 |
SK | i was simply taking the code inside notifications_widget.tpl and using it in nav_default.tpl which obviously wasnt working. But creating a custom widget and then adding that to the nav works. | 18:34:40 |
SK | learning something new everytime | 18:35:07 |
