hmenke: do you know the version of ogdf the pgf depends upon? I got the following failure while trying to make under graphdrawing/pgf/gd/ogdf/c on OSX (Apple M2):

After building and installing the baobab-201505 version of ogdf, the compilation now fails differently. Will try with the oldest version (201207) of ogdf later on.

I found two examples in SugiyamaLayout.lua that specifies something like:

but the key SugiyamaLayout is never registered with the graph drawing system. I suspect it should be replaced by "layered layout" instead. SugiyamaLayout appears to be only used internally for some other purposes (such as documentation generation).
