alphapapa: about the FIXME in ement-room-compose-message on using add-function on org-mode locally: it doesn't work beacuse local advices only work on variables that hold a function as their value. This is explained better in the Info manual: (info "(elisp) Core Advising Primitives").

Can't you advise the function and use a buffer-local variable in the advised logic to determine the desired behavior? A buffer-local variable can have a lambda function stored even, no?

I can receive messages from encrypted rooms via pantalaimon, but I can't send any. I also notice in the session list on Element an entry for both Ement and for pantalaimon. Is this normal / can someone advise?

Hello. You will need to be more specific about the symptoms than "I can't send any."

When sending a message, the message doesn't seem to arrive (checked via other sessions with Element), and the only message in Messages is Error running timer ‘plz--respond’: (ement-api-error "28: Operation timeout.")

The pantalaimon logs have nothing, and trying to run pantalaimon with log-level debug gives a dasbus python error.

I have confirmed the I can send messages in unencrypted rooms, so perhaps this is a pantalaimon issue more than an ement one. Just to be sure, I am not expected to do more config on the emacs side beyond (ement-connect :uri-prefix "http://localhost:8009") instead of normally connecting right?
