enry | I'm trying to run I2P with I2PD. My router or modem[Intel puma 6] is acting up. I'm monitoring the connection with dpinger & thinkbroadband BQM. Without running I2P the connection latency is OK, no packet loss. Running I2PD 2.53.1 seems alright too, just slight latency spikes. When I start I2P bittorrent the BQM & dpinger shows massive latency spikes and packet loss, but the speeds are low & there's lots of bandwidth left.
Is the cause of this the DDOS I read about, wouldn't there be more packet loss when just I2PD is running or is this just puma 6 modem causing this, although my ISP said it's been patched to 'mitigate' the issue?
The CPU,RAM & State table on the router are below 10% utilization. | 15:23:08 |

virtu | is there a torsocks equivalent for I2P? I'm trying to use an i2p address as a nameserver for dig . with tor, torsocks dig address @<address.onion> +tcp works. not sure how to do this with I2P. | 10:43:31 |
4o1x5 | I'm not aware of such tools for i2p. But you can always just create a local tunnel to the b32 address of the dns server than pass 127.0.0.1:port to dig | 10:45:51 |
virtu | too bad. I'm trying to minimize user intervention as much as possible. would using the i2p socks5 proxy work? | 10:48:17 |
virtu | * too bad. I'm trying to minimize user intervention as much as possible. would using the i2p socks5 proxy work if I'm writing a dig -like tool? | 10:48:38 |
4o1x5 | Yeah it should | 10:48:59 |
4o1x5 | But then the user has to set a outproxy in their settings so dig can work. I'm assuming you want to use dig for surface dns and not i2p adresses | 10:50:48 |
virtu | yeah, it's a non-standard setup I guess. I'm trying to query a DNS server that's reachable via I2P | 10:56:02 |
4o1x5 | Nah it's pretty standard, I2p differs in many ways when compared to tor. Applications just werk on tor, on i2p you need extra configuration due to the design of the protocol | 10:57:26 |
virtu | ok, then I'll try the socks5-proxy route. thanks | 10:58:10 |
4o1x5 | Tho if you need something lime torsocks, you could try proxychains | 11:00:52 |
virtu | thanks, but I got it working using pysocket and the i2pd socks5 server. now it's agnostic to darknet-type, since I can simply change the i2pd proxy to the onion one. | 13:11:24 |

Hesh. #p3pch4t:matrix.org #i2pchat:matrix.org | * Yes, I know but they founded on clearnet initially and it could have leakage, I mean IP address leaks | 11:28:01 |
