If you have a leaky phone keyboard app, like something that sends keypresses to the Cloud(TM) to get text predictions back, and Signal is set to use that keyboard, that's a side channel for seeing your texts on Signal, right? Yes. Most keyboards have an "incognito mode" that halts this, Signal can (maybe does? I do not know) set this flag at app launch, but you are still trusting the keyboard to honor it/etc. | 00:40:21 |

There were serious discussions about this several years ago because this weakness (lack of trustable, non-cloud, whatever you want to say) keyboard app for phones means signal is auto-van in china for the most part. At least according to people from there that I have read. Yeah Signal stops working in China but as soon as leave China like to Hong Kong or Macau etc it'll work again... | 12:09:52 |
