@vika_nezrimaya:cs.xa0.uk@vika_nezrimaya:cs.xa0.ukthat's a very cute name for something as powerful and omnipresent as a build system16:38:13

@freenode_V:matrix.orgVemilazy: is this project still alive? last commit was months ago and this channel seems kind of dead judging by the logs00:31:14

@emilazy:matrix.orgemily V: not dead in that I've lost interest in working on it per se, but it's been a while since it was at the top of my project priority queue, and unfortunately lately I've been too busy with life stuff and health issues to even maintain my NixOS/nixpkgs responsibilities 00:23:58
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyit's definitely not something I'm racing to make exist in a production-ready form so much as an outlet for me to sketch out my issues and frustrations with the existing systems (esp. Nix) as I use them and start working towards what a more preferable world might look like, so I wouldn't necessarily hold your breath :)00:25:04
@freenode_V:matrix.orgV emily: ah, I hope that gets better soon 00:25:40
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilybut I would definitely like it to exist in a more actual form once I have more free time00:25:41
@freenode_V:matrix.orgV I'm not actually looking for production software; build systems are one of my main interests + I'm fairly annoyed with the quality of Nix + its deficiencies 00:27:48
@freenode_V:matrix.orgVso seeing other people working on alternative designs is interesting00:28:03
@freenode_V:matrix.orgV+ also the overlap in design considerations00:28:47
@freenode_V:matrix.orgVblake3 ^^00:28:50
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilyyep. Nix is way ahead of almost anything else out there, but it doesn't take much diving to run into awful tangles of unportable bash scripts, awkwardness around recursive Nix stuff, etc.00:29:55
@freenode_V:matrix.orgVI spent so long avoiding touching it b/c the code was mortifying, and I constantly run into bugs/limitations with it00:30:47
@freenode_V:matrix.orgV Unfortunately I can't use anything else now 00:31:15
@emilazy:matrix.orgemilythe best and worst pieces of technology are like that :)00:35:10
