Jonatan Hatakeyama Zeidler | In reply to @rinigus:matrix.org @room : New release of OSM Scout Server is out: 3.1.0
As with Pure Maps above, it was mainly to catch up with the small changes that accumulated and update translations. In addition, Flatpak is bumped to 23.08 KDE runtime.
Next map import will be done using Valhalla 3.4.0 and I'll be updating the builds to it on SFOS as well. Flatpak as released on Flathub will have it bundled too. Note that for imports I am planning to use the version as packaged on Nix - that should simplify it for me.
Official Flathub and SFOS builds are prepared right now, should be ready soon. Does that mean I should bump valhalla to 3.4.0 for building 3.1.0 of OSM Scout Server? Because it is defined in https://github.com/rinigus/osmscout-server/blob/master/packaging/click/prepare-deps.sh#L14 which is set to 3.0.9 in the OSM Scout Server 3.1.0 tag. | 18:56:47 |
Jonatan Hatakeyama Zeidler | If not, I would bump it there with a PR that would make it into the next version of OSM Scout Server some time. | 18:57:17 |
rinigus | Jonatan Hatakeyama Zeidler: we can probably wait with it. I hope that the next import will work with the older Valhalla as well. But I haven't tested it yet | 19:03:46 |
kop316 | Is there way i can see why routing is faiing? | 21:50:42 |
kop316 | I have GPS lock (3.3 ft), am using mapbox, and have tried multiple mav providers and all fail | 21:54:57 |
kop316 | the destination is 3 miles away, so id assume this should be possible | 21:55:19 |
twrightsman | kop316 two things I can think of: 1) you're using the online profile without an internet connection (ask me how I know...) or 2) the routing needs an API key? | 22:27:09 |
kop316 | In reply to @twrightsman:matrix.org kop316 two things I can think of: 1) you're using the online profile without an internet connection (ask me how I know...) or 2) the routing needs an API key? it could be 2....but i know i used it successfully in the past? I also know i have an internet connection | 23:57:15 |
kop316 | ohhh you're right, theres a ton of API keys i dont have | 23:59:03 |
kop316 | Ill try that out later, thanks!! | 23:59:55 |

kop316 | Hmm...ok so I added all of the API keys with still the same routing failed | 02:54:13 |
kop316 | mapquest failed too | 02:54:17 |
rinigus | kop316: please try with stadia or osrm. For testing, set origin and final destination on some road. Maybe one of the points are unreachable. | 04:45:11 |

rinigus | kop316: thanks! | 16:24:05 |

| magdesign joined the room. | 18:35:21 |
magdesign | just wondering:
can i somehow find out how many meters above seelevel i am? | 18:37:02 |
magdesign | like now, actual position? | 18:37:50 |
rinigus | magdesign: not in pure maps at this moment. other GPS apps could show it maybe | 20:20:23 |

wayneoutthere | quick question: when i am using 'osm direct' https://www.openstreetmap.org, and I type an address, it does not auto-populate. what is the quick reason why? Obviously it's very important for being popular and usable. It must be heavy resources or something? | 16:53:17 |
wayneoutthere | "auto-populate" was not best word choice "auto-complete" is better. | 16:53:45 |
wayneoutthere | it just seems 'not very great' as a google-maps alternative on the main website. Maybe someone else has done a better website with same project? | 16:57:36 |
rinigus | Pure Maps does auto completion. But that's not a website :) | 16:58:20 |
wayneoutthere | hmm. very interesting... one would think the osm demo site (above) would have at least the basic features that drive people to googlemaps. I think those are, in the direction module:
- auto-complete addresses
- add another address feature +
But if Pure Maps can do this this is very interesting. I installed it on uT and was very impressed. I just wanted to have a website where I can demonstrate, easily, what is powering pure maps (osm) but it's not a great demo website.
| 20:53:10 |
wayneoutthere | maybe OSM is more like the 'database' and all the other GUIs take the OSM data and do what they want with it? | 20:53:43 |
wayneoutthere | will try again to install flatpak of PM. failed first time but want to give that experience a shot. | 21:12:28 |

rinigus | OSM is mainly a database, but they do develop website as well. Maybe contact them and suggest auto completion?
As for flatpak, pure maps flatpak should work | 04:02:48 |
