@wayneoutthere:matrix.orgwayneoutthereWell if its more of an engine and no one is using browser than no reason beating a dead javahorse ;)04:04:40
@wayneoutthere:matrix.orgwayneoutthere Will try flatpakin' as soon as I get my laptop memory cleared out.. Knew that would fill up one day :( 04:05:40
@rinigus:matrix.orgrinigusWell, many use browser for different reasons. So, it makes sense to ask 04:06:40
@baarkerlounger:one.ems.hostbaarkerloungerA website that uses OSM maps and does search suggestions is qwant.com/maps so you could try that08:44:50
@wayneoutthere:matrix.orgwayneoutthere Thats funny because I'm already a qwant user and forgot to test their maps. Many thanks for suggestion 11:37:52
@wayneoutthere:matrix.orgwayneoutthereHey... this 'feels' relevant to something here if you haven't seen this. Just saw in another group, thought I'd share... 15:06:02

so this is actually quite awesome - except - the one critical feature missing is 'add next destination' (try google's for that) simple and excellent. In fact, if this site allowed you 20 locations instead of 10 (max is 10 for google) that would be quite a copmetivive advantage
15:25:03
@wayneoutthere:matrix.orgwayneoutthereI also had this 'idea' of connecting (somehow) pure maps to the meshtastic mesh network somehow... seems there is a great community growing around that 15:43:11

@tdb:tdb.fitdbHi, I'm wondering about some technical details of the Sailjail restrictions, specifically the inability to show current street or speed limit. The stated reason is that Pure Maps can't communicate with OSM Scout Server via D-Bus, but then how does navigation or the maps themselves work? Does OSM SS have multiple ways of communicating with it and for some reason the current street and speed limit can only go over D-Bus?11:38:29

@rinigus:matrix.orgrinigus tdb: navigation, geocoding (search), and maps work via http://localhost. for map matching it seemed to be easier for me to make it via dbus as I expect that it is a faster protocol. note that we use map matching once a second or so. for navigation and other communications with the server, it makes more sense to use http as it is a protocol used with the other servers as well 16:41:53

Your config files are in /home/phablet/.config/pure-maps.jonnius/ or /home/phablet/.config/pure-maps-slim.jonnius/ for the slim version.
08:06:41
@jonny:synod.imJonatan Hatakeyama Zeidler The bookmarks in the file pois.json. 08:11:18

@jonny:synod.imJonatan Hatakeyama ZeidlerIf you just upgrade your devices without wiping data, the app data should be preserved.08:11:59
@jonny:synod.imJonatan Hatakeyama Zeidlermaking a backup before upgrading from UT 16.04 to 20.04 is definitely a good idea though.08:12:27

Jonatan Hatakeyama Zeidler: we can probably wait with it. I hope that the next import will work with the older Valhalla as well. But I haven't tested it yet
I found an issue with the update to OSM Scout Server on Ubuntu Touch and haven't published it therefore. I'll try to fix it for the next release and skip this one.

@jonny:synod.imJonatan Hatakeyama Zeidler rinigus: about the valhalla update, I can't build the 3.4.0 in the Ubuntu Touch environment: https://pastebin.com/vhnpdz4R 12:21:10
@jonny:synod.imJonatan Hatakeyama ZeidlerSome complaint about the memory layout of some type. Does it require a newer compiler version or something?12:21:53
@jonny:synod.imJonatan Hatakeyama ZeidlerIn Ubuntu Touch 20.04 we have GCC 9.4.012:22:38
@jonny:synod.imJonatan Hatakeyama ZeidlerNevermind, I managed by disabling a couple of things like tests...12:37:42

@wayneoutthere:matrix.orgwayneoutthereHi. Just discovered this site. Probably you all know it but if not, this is pretty solid for a browser-based OSM map. The directions allows lots of steps along the journey and the auto-fill is pretty good. https://maps.openrouteservice.org23:15:38
