@christianlupus:matrix.orgchristianlupusOnce this is said, I do not know your state of knowledge exactly. I do not know what you might have already prepared. I do not know how much experience you can afford both in PHP and HTML/CSS/JS.13:34:06
@christianlupus:matrix.orgchristianlupusI'd like to continue but I have to get eating just now. Will answer later.13:34:26
@sh3rl0ckh0lm3s:matrix.orglukas@127.0.0.1Unfortunately I still have rudimentary knowledge of HTML/CSS, PHP even less. But that doesn't mean I'm not constantly trying to expand my knowledge in this area. At school we (unfortunately) only learn Python. Enjoy your meal!13:36:01
@christianlupus:matrix.orgchristianlupusThanks, meal was good.14:07:55
@christianlupus:matrix.orgchristianlupusYou know that you have to use PHP, right? Although, the difference between PHP and python is mainly syntactical. They are both object oriented languages. So you could use the same techniques if you understand the underlaying concepts.14:10:15

Yes, I am aware that I need to use PHP.

I should have unified the basic concepts of object-oriented programming so far.

@christianlupus:matrix.orgchristianlupus Well, you might need to create a clear structure how and what you want to create and how the app should be structured. I am talking about any algorithms involved (I do not know how intelligent the app should help rescheduling appointments) as well as the basic logic needed to interact with the user (and the NC core). 14:32:25
@sfey:matrix.orgsfey christianlupus is certainly right in everything he is saying. But still, there are open-source projects which are not developed by a company doing similar stuff as existing commercial software. There are companies building cookbook apps, anyway 😀 (Okay, idk if the NC Cookbook app is successful. Are there some numbers about downloads/installations available?)
Anyway, to be successful, probably some of those things need to come together: experienced/strong lead developer, market interest for the 'product', a good community (users, co-developers, etc.).
lukas@127.0.0.1 Personally, I like your idea, but you should be aware of the risks (which is mainly lost opportunities). If you are enthusiastic about this and/or doing this as an educational project, i.e., to learn things, this is certainly a great project. And who knows, maybe the response is great :)

Certainly, this would also often be the decisive argument for Nextcloud in companies and schools.

@sh3rl0ckh0lm3s:matrix.orglukas@127.0.0.1Perhaps you can tell my strong dislike of M$ 365! xD14:58:58

I am 100% with you. Even though my university recently embraced MS with office and Teams I am still using Linux and already fixing the MS problems. 😇😜
15:02:05
@sh3rl0ckh0lm3s:matrix.orglukas@127.0.0.1 EDIT: I use M$ Teams under Linux (Ubuntu 20.04.) exclusively in the web browser (unfortunately Chromium, because Teams does not work in Firefox). This has often led to confusion among my teachers as to why. xD 15:04:04
@sh3rl0ckh0lm3s:matrix.orglukas@127.0.0.1I try to do it everywhere I can avoid M$.15:04:53
@timvde:matrix.orgtimvdebecause Teams does not work in Firefox*22:05:44
@timvde:matrix.orgtimvdeThere's no reason why it can't work, it's just that MS decided not to care about the actual standard and implemented WebRTC using a Chromium-only draft that never was standardized22:06:21
@timvde:matrix.orgtimvde(Same for Slack and Facebook, unfortunately)22:06:30

@sh3rl0ckh0lm3s:matrix.orglukas@127.0.0.1That's just M$. Only Teams does not work in Firefox, all other M$ web services (Outlook, Word, Exel, etc.) work. Unfortunately, some of my teachers don't understand my dislike of Microsoft. Question from a teacher: What's wrong with installing the native OneNote app? I also often meet with incomprehension with my dislike of M$.22:08:46

@timvde:matrix.orgtimvdeLuckily, in my education (which was computer science), I never needed anything but Linux22:15:32

I said goodbye to WhatsApp and Windows 10 at the end of 2020. I use Threema and Element.

I'm thinking of migrating my Twitter and Instagram to pixelfed and Mastodon soon.

@sh3rl0ckh0lm3s:matrix.orglukas@127.0.0.1 Funny thing: we used Owncloud years ago.... WHY WE have now arrived at M$ 365, I don't know to the best of my knowledge. 22:18:27

I would also like to use Nextcloud in our school. We would have the technical competence (technical vocational college) and it would be a cool project for the IT learners at our vocational college.

@hobbsecky:matrix.orghobbseckyI'm trying to change the default recipe location for new users to a group shared folder ./Recipes so that the folder is hidden in folder view and users can share and build a common recipe database. Anyway to change this?20:51:36
