+ 🆂 🆃 🅴 🆅 🅴 🅾 | * Thanks. I was Head LBRYian there several years ago and helped create the Foundation with Jeremy before its inception. However, I don't align with how it's currently run, so it's not a place I'd be comfortable operating in. I am active in other LBRY communities though. I do like the new crop of people in the Foundation though, so the future is looking good. As for the other project I'm involved with, it's called Pirate Chain. A very controversial name, especially as it's a "human rights" based project. But despite the name, it's one of the most important projects around. The core devs are cor devs from Zcash, Komodo, Monero and other major project. We are tightly linked with Qortal and Komodo still. It's not a DAO, it's 100% community run with no centralised governing body. It's 100% volunteerism. We are even debating whether or not to have a donation area on the new website, which I'm launching today. We'll, I already did launch it (on a new, not public, domain name), but it's not officially announced yet, due to a redirect issue from the old site that wasn't using correct permalink protocols. Which is what I'm trying to fix right now. The reason the project is 100% volunteerism, is that having any relationship with money, makes you a target. Which was highlighted when the SEC went after LBRY. It's a project built on passion and freedoms. That's our current-sea! No fake, printed out of thin air fiat required! However, if anyone in the community wants to reward people for their efforts, they can and do, but it's not part of the projects structure, it's purely a personal decision people make via their own volition. | 09:44:29 |
+ 🆂 🆃 🅴 🆅 🅴 🅾 | You can see a side Pirate Chain project I'm working on here. It's just for fun and part of a community build exercise. https://discord.com/channels/721806979928162404/914214110084870154/1192363495988138035 Version 2 will be ready soon, which is a lot better. That version isn't live, but you can build it yourself via the "Experimental" branch. | 09:50:00 |
+ 🆂 🆃 🅴 🆅 🅴 🅾 | Group discussions. From those, the DEVs get an idea of what direction to go in. It's the same for other areas of the project, such as marketing, etc. For example, a few weeks ago, the guys from Anarchapulco/TCV had a lengthy discussion in the server about the direction they'd like the project to go in. Discussion can get heated, but they are typically very constructive and well mannered. | 09:58:06 |

miko | Check this, they are now called hubs. https://github.com/lbryio/hub Seems that the foundation also just setup their own hub at s1.lbry.network:50001 One foundation member also hosts a lbry.tech copy, but the wallet server stuff there is kind of out dated. (And some of the min hardware requirements aren't enough, if I recall right.) https://tech.lbry.pigg.es | 13:41:28 |
miko | Also if you want to first try to run a hub server in testnet to see how things fit together, here is some kind of guide for that https://odysee.com/@miko:f/TestnetHub:f, not sure if it's still correct. | 13:43:57 |

+ 🆂 🆃 🅴 🆅 🅴 🅾 | It normal for Discord communities to have drama, so I guess it was inevitable. The main issues when I was there were around how people with roles conducted themselves and nepotism. It would be good to see the community grow again and be more resilient. Now is the best time to be part of the community and hosting your own LBRY wallet server. The best person to guide you through it is madiator2011 | 16:16:04 |
+ 🆂 🆃 🅴 🆅 🅴 🅾 | He's set up a new one. You can find it here: https://matrix.to/#/#lbry-community-dev-team:chat.madiator.cloud | 16:19:23 |
+ 🆂 🆃 🅴 🆅 🅴 🅾 | I have a love hate relationship with Discord. hehe! | 16:21:28 |
Amaterasu Solar | Me, too! After They axed My first account for no (stated) reason... LOL! | 17:06:12 |
Amaterasu Solar | Unknown, but if I hadn't Many I communicate with here on dickscord...er...discord, I would write Them off in a heartbeat! | 17:29:58 |

.pipeliner | I am also using Element and have the Odysee chat over there | 12:10:50 |
.pipeliner | but I have to say the UI and UX is nothing compared to Discord | 12:11:16 |
.pipeliner | heard that setting a Matrix chat up and maintaining it is no fun | 12:11:35 |
.pipeliner | which is sad | 12:11:38 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | I have multiple matrix rooms and am just moderator in one too, it isnt a hassle. I would mod this rooms matrix bridge also, if it was opened, but the creator of the bridge disappeared, so its broken, still | 15:59:53 |
Amaterasu Solar | I have a server on Revolt - which is not too bad... | 18:13:11 |
.pipeliner | Revolt is a like Element? | 20:47:37 |
.pipeliner | nice | 20:47:40 |
.pipeliner | Maybe I should try that instead of Element | 20:47:41 |
slop8034 changed their display name from Slop to slop8034. | 23:08:57 | |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | In reply to @_discord_782967330840903742:t2bot.ioNo. Revolt isnt decentralized, like matrix. It also isnt a client for matrix, but a completely different chat protocol. You still depend on the server operator, like with discord | 23:26:38 |

Amaterasu Solar | Yep! But the traffic is poor. Would love to get People involved there! | 01:41:16 |
Amaterasu Solar | Thanks Mors. Er... Pipeliner! Okay. I don't like element because the app on My win 7 computer no longer works, and I lost all the communications I had when I was forced into a browser version and could not remember the passwords | 01:43:54 |
miko | What happens when you try? | 06:41:19 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | In reply to @_discord_988861614201655357:t2bot.ioI always have multiple clients on multiple devices, that have my keys, but element also has a way to export and import all keys, so this isnt necessary | 19:34:02 |
@morsmortium:matrix.org | But, idk when the feature was implemented and it isnt advertised that much either, i only got to know that recently, thats why i have this multiple clients solution (after login i verify the client, so they share keys) | 19:35:36 |
Amaterasu Solar | Well, I have not figured out how to "export and import all keys..." [shrug] | 19:39:30 |
