Cluedrew | Read most of the introduction. Some good ideas but I think they are going to have a few problems. The big one is how universal they want Urbit ID to be while only having "~4B" possible keys. That isn't enough if you want it reach the level it is replacing locks. | 13:59:29 |

eaterjolly | Cluedrew: They account for that (predictably). Urbit ID's vary in class by size. The max = 128 byte. The standard "~4B" one "planet" has 16 bytes. Planets act as sybil certificates + issue 32 byte identities. 128 byte ones get mined rather than issued for anonymity. | 22:36:51 |

Cluedrew | I reread the thing looking for that very solution and I missed it somehow. That was the main issue, still have my concerns. For instance I am not confident in Blockchain (although I am more than this: https://xkcd.com/2030/), I think I heard a rant about the design of Nock about 4 years ago (or a language that is similar) so how well does that work, the interface still has a bunch of question marks, I wonder why are so many applications part of the kernel space, can it stand on its own without a supporting OS how hard is it to get an Urbit ID and so on.
In terms of trying new ideas this is really cool. I have no idea how well it is going to work though. So I will wait and watch for now. That is my quick review of what I saw. | 23:31:27 |
