@joshafairhead:matrix.orgjoshafairheadI gotta agree that its way easier for article contributors to submit directly, as opposed to download the lot branch, send back etc. I'm fairly technical and that whole process had me pretty confused for a bit... if I was trying to submit an article that way its likely the barrier to entry is too high.17:47:59
@joshafairhead:matrix.orgjoshafairheadOn the flip side, if they can submit then theres a multi-diciplinary skillset... (writing/code) so it might be a handy filter?17:48:54
@lightnode93:matrix.orglightnodeyeah, I agree that the current submission process probably excludes way too many people from submitting17:51:49
@lightnode93:matrix.orglightnodeand even just trying a simpler submission method could be worth it to see if it increases contributions17:53:01
@lightnode93:matrix.orglightnodeI don't think we want to filter out those that may just not know what markdown is, but have really great things to say17:54:09
@lightnode93:matrix.orglightnodeZooko even commented on how GitHub inherently excludes people from contributing: https://github.com/ZcashFoundation/ZcashFoundation/issues/58 If it's a problem for Zcash, it's a problem for Aragon and anyone else17:55:37
@krrisis:matrix.orgkrrisisgreat feedback, thx!! yeah, for the articles, in the (github 🙂 ) thread I mention above there was already the suggestion to straight up link to a google form for article submission. I do think that requiring them to have a github account and pressing a 'new issue' button still should be feasable though. (we also need it to be able to award them bounties for content anyways). We are also still right now talking to an 'in-crowd', the early adopters, so as josh mentions, it could indeed be still a good filter, at this point in time.19:09:09
@lightnode93:matrix.orglightnodeoh yeah I totally agree, I don't think it should be that hard to create a GH account and create a new issue19:09:57
@lightnode93:matrix.orglightnodebut anything past that is when you start to lose people19:10:12
@krrisis:matrix.orgkrrisisExtra important point to note: all of Aragon's content is on the web (this specific content is on monthly.aragon.org) so that's maybe a bit different than zcash (no idea)19:10:28
@lightnode93:matrix.orglightnode they see a wall of markdown, and it's close tab 19:10:33
@joshafairhead:matrix.orgjoshafairheadyup19:10:53
@joshafairhead:matrix.orgjoshafairheadnothing induces a coma quicker than non relevance19:11:15
@joshafairhead:matrix.orgjoshafairheadmost writers would probably find md irrelevant, but then the question is is it?19:11:54
@joshafairhead:matrix.orgjoshafairheadReally good resource share btw19:12:08
@joshafairhead:matrix.orgjoshafairheaddigging that discussion, and 100% agree with zooko - thanks for sharing :)19:12:46
@joshafairhead:matrix.orgjoshafairhead^ tho Kris makes a good point; will the next wave of "writers" include .md feathers to their bow?19:13:40
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot[rocketchat] <light> I think putting news and classified submissions into an issue, and articles as an issue with a link to a doc would be a good first step towards lowering the barrier to entry for content contributors. Then only editors really need to know markdown and pull requests and so on.19:53:06
@krrisis:matrix.orgkrrisisCool, well, I can definitely do this, the rest of the guides go then into one bigger referral guide which is helpful for editors. Only thing is that CLA they're signing when they're submitting an article? But maybe there's solutions for that one?21:53:32

@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot[rocketchat] <light> what about it?08:31:49
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot[rocketchat] <light> the CLA that is08:31:56
@krrisis:matrix.orgkrrisisWell if they submit through an issue linked to a Google doc, how can we implement that signing into the process?17:13:18
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot[rocketchat] <light> Oh yeah, hm we could get them to sign the CLA out of band using some esign service19:25:33
@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot[rocketchat] <marikio> [ ](https://aragon.chat/channel/monthly?msg=rMhx7MwYcjTuvAdFo) @riot.eagle Yep, community feedback definitely welcome :). @light and I went through a first iteration of the introduction video and I got some tips there. Planning to redo with Gitcoin this coming week after exams are over and will send for community review. Can develop the rest off of the feedback?19:33:18

@bridge-bot:matrix.orgbridge-bot[rocketchat] <tatu> [ ](https://aragon.chat/channel/monthly?msg=x3Nh7RzaQqNDKzadN) That process is now basically redundant and has been for a while since there was the move to editorial work, the old process description accounted for people actively adding news to the Issue during the month as they were submitted as new items in the repo issues, but as that never really happened, it is now done on the editor work, so that change could be mirrored in the guides as well08:55:28
@krrisis:matrix.orgkrrisisOkay, thx @tatu - then I'll change the guides as described above. Will back up the current guides into the latest issue, in that sense we can always revert to the current order if needed at any point. thx for the feedback!23:23:06
