Kilian | Hi all, after being frustrated with POEditor it was suggested to me to get Nio and its translations added to translate.riot.im. Who can I ping about that? 😊 | 17:03:55 |
MTRNord | Not sure if still Dave is the one doing all the translations stuff 🙂 | 17:04:46 |
Dave | ah yeah, sure - I'll double check with the matrix council of elders but I don't see any reason why not! what's your account on translate.riot.im? | 17:07:10 |
Kilian | Sounds good, thanks! It's kiliankoe. | 17:07:43 |
Dave | In reply to @kilian:nio.chat Sounds good, thanks! It's kiliankoe. you are now in the admin group for the Nio project - hopefully that should let you add components etc - let us know how it goes! | 17:15:14 |
Kilian | Awesome, thanks so much 😊 | 17:16:16 |
Kilian | I'm having some trouble setting up a component. Weblate auto-discovered the localisation files in my repo, but on trying to save the component (and presumably having it pull the file contents) it's throwing the following error.
Could not parse 5 matched files.
Nio/Supporting Files/de.lproj/Localizable.strings: Invalid file format <translate.storage.properties.stringsfile object at 0x7fd63ac479b0>
Nio/Supporting Files/en.lproj/Localizable.strings: Invalid file format <translate.storage.properties.stringsfile object at 0x7fd63ad19dd8>
Nio/Supporting Files/es.lproj/Localizable.strings: Cannot detect encoding for given string.
Nio/Supporting Files/nl.lproj/Localizable.strings: Cannot detect encoding for given string.
Nio/Supporting Files/zh-Hans.lproj/Localizable.strings: Cannot detect encoding for given string.
Has anybody seen these before perhaps? I have no clue what it's on about regarding an invalid file format, I've double-checked them now. And I'm just as unsure how to help it out to discover the encoding for the others 🤔

Kilian | Apparently Weblate is not a fan of emoji in localisation files, what a shame 😅 It worked now though! Just in case anyone runs into the same issue^^ | 19:04:35 |

Tirifto | Hello! Is there a difference between a call and a ‘VoIP Conference’? | 15:38:35 |

Peter Scholtens | Tirifto: I think so. A 'call' would refer to a phone (GSM/POTS) call, mostly between two persons, while a VoIP conference could refer to a larger groups and a different technique (Voice over IP). | 08:13:20 |

Aaron | All the terms are written in English to start with. They don't need to be translated into English. You are probably seeing this bug https://github.com/vector-im/riot-web/issues/9422 where every word has an error? Refreshing the page should fix it | 14:50:07 |
jan | SPANISH: I notice that both in the desktop and brower versions a great deal of english terms are not yet translated (including. f.e. the menu bar). They greatly limit access by spanish-only (potential) users I'm willing to contribute, and registered for translations, but can't find where these particular gaps to be filled are located. Anyone can help me out?? | 15:06:39 |

csybr | did you find this page? if you click on "strings needing action" or "not translated strings" you'll only see untranslated or unchecked strings | 15:25:12 |
jan | I did so yesterday, But did not find the untranslated terms. Will try again now. Thanks for your help! | 15:26:06 |
