Dave | looks like someone has somehow replaced a lot of the russian translations with the original english strings - I've tried to put the react-sdk / riot-web ones back but russian speakers may want to go & check | 14:35:27 |

Tirifto | Hello! Does ‘session’ refer to a certain user being logged in from a certain device? | 18:34:42 |
a2sc | In reply to@tirifto:tedomum.net Hello! Does ‘session’ refer to a certain user being logged in from a certain device? Yes, as far as I understood. You can install multiple instances on one device. Therefore session is more precise | 19:25:38 |
Tirifto | Thank you, alex! | 19:32:08 |
Tirifto | I guess sessions aren’t inherently bound to logins? The translation I’m entertaining right now would roughly translate back to ‘a thing of login’, but if there’s a likely scenario where a user might log out and log back into their old session, I might be better off dropping that. | 19:35:15 |

Nathan | Tirifto: I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but a session doesn't need to be 'active' or 'online'. You could, for example, install and log in to both RiotX and Ditto Chat on your phone. As soon as you've logged in on them, they're added as a session, so at that point you have two sessions, 'RiotX' and 'Ditto Chat'. Even if you then delete Ditto Chat from your phone, you'll still have the 'Ditto Chat' session. | 19:48:30 |
Tirifto | Nathan: Ah, yeah, a session being created on login and not deleted later works fine for my idea. Thanks for the clarification! | 19:51:28 |
Michal Stanke | It's something like a list of applications/clients signed in to your account. | 21:28:07 |

Tirifto | Michal Stanke: A list of sessions is a list of signed-in applications/clients, right? (Or is a session a list?) | 15:43:01 |
a2sc | In reply to@tirifto:tedomum.net Michal Stanke: A list of sessions is a list of signed-in applications/clients, right? (Or is a session a list?) No. A list of apps into which was signed in and you are currently signed in. | 15:46:23 |
a2sc | Maybe check: preferences -> security & privacy -> active sessions. In riotx
There u see all the sessions you created through sign in. Including web login, different apps, s.o. | 15:49:16 |
Tirifto | Ah, good, I think I get it then. I just got confused at the mention of a list. :P | 15:53:14 |
Tirifto | Thank you for further details. | 15:54:43 |
Tirifto | What is ‘DM’ supposed to mean? At first I thought ‘direct message’, as in a chat between two users… but the there’s this string:
We couldn't create your DM. Please check the users you want to invite and try again.
| 16:39:29 |
tulir | it means that | 16:41:05 |
tulir | Download image.png | 16:41:36 |
tulir | lets you invite more than one user though | 16:42:24 |
tulir | and it's still a room of course | 16:42:26 |
Tirifto | Oh. So… what’s the defining trait of a DM when there are multiple users in it? | 16:42:56 |
tulir | being under that list in the room list | 16:43:15 |
tulir | also maybe something like https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-doc/pull/2199 in the future | 16:43:30 |
Tirifto | Huh. I don’t really get why that exists, but alright. Thanks for the explanation! | 16:47:54 |
