@aditsachde:matrix.orgAdit [m.org] I'm trying to implement cassandra support for the signingkeyserver (no good reason, just want to get familiar with the codebase). I've got things compiling, but I can't seem to figure out how to actually test it. 08:29:15
@aditsachde:matrix.orgAdit [m.org] I've tried unit testing using serverkeyapi_test.go but it fails on the FetchKey call. However, I can't tell where its calling StoreKeys in the first place. 08:30:10
@aditsachde:matrix.orgAdit [m.org] also i tried using sytest with the dendrite-docker container, but I don't really know how to override the config to use a cassandra connection url for just the signingkeyserver 08:31:45

Getting to know the codebase worked best for me when actually working on something that's needed.
Since there probably won't be any work on any other storage backend (see #1800), I'd suggest having a look at the "good first issue" or "are-we-synapse-yet" :)

@s7evink:s3cr3t.mes7evinkBy no means I want you to stop experimenting. I've played around with gRPC for internal connections, it was fun, but in the end it was just me learning more about gRPC :P21:54:03

@aditsachde:matrix.orgAdit [m.org] yeah tbh it's more of just to see if its possible and trying to do potentially dumb things in my spare time. I'm not really too sure how seriously I can contribute to dendrite atm anyways as I'm working on some other things that I know very little about but have timelines 😛 08:28:29

@aditsachde:matrix.orgAdit [m.org] s7evink: so funny story, took a look at cockroachdb since you mentioned it and it turns out its a super tiny patch set https://github.com/aditsachde/dendrite/commit/9854c4453f21ab2cbeb2f1cae303bf5cd9ef63cc 21:08:32
@aditsachde:matrix.orgAdit [m.org]Passes sytest with postgres and all the statements prepare correctly on startup with postgres and cockroachdb so I'm reasonably certain it works fine, but it probably doesn't make a ton of sense to support it upstream.21:09:50
