Do you NEED the tool globally? Will it be used by other packages, or is it a system script (something designed to run on any/all repos)?
Sure, go nuts. Install as root, yeet that script into a root shell like a boss, eat ass, lick toilet seats... You do you man.
If a script says "this needs root/sudo" on a server I am running, or I see that in build deps when I go to deploy it, there will be questions. I would not approve a dev dep that needs sudo/root in production. Hell, I won't accept anything that isn't in a docker container these days.
