@luke_connor:matrix.org@luke_connor:matrix.orgOnce the alpha is out, besides the downloads on the itch.io page, will we make the game downloadable from the website?15:18:47
@orangemn6:matrix.orgorangemn6I am making a new website, and the download button will just direct to the releases page15:31:19
@orangemn6:matrix.orgorangemn6unless you want a download page15:31:28

@orangemn6:matrix.orgorangemn6Any suggestions?17:15:50
@grbavacigla:matrix.orgGrbavaCiglaMaybe put "Posts" and "About" on header?17:16:26
@grbavacigla:matrix.orgGrbavaCiglaI mean, you don't have to, you can do it differently, but it looks kinda weird stacked like this17:16:50
@orangemn6:matrix.orgorangemn6I can try, but that would mess uo when you go to the about, it is on the bottom17:28:51
@orangemn6:matrix.orgorangemn6also, I need a picture of the map/gameplay area for the background17:35:53
@grbavacigla:matrix.orgGrbavaCiglaI think this conversation shouldn't be in "Suggestions"17:36:31
@orangemn6:matrix.orgorangemn6ok to the website team room17:37:07
@orangemn6:matrix.orgorangemn6https://github.com/NationalSecurityAgency/enigma-simulator/blob/master/MasterEnigmaCracker.ipynb this could be a task18:07:29

I think that the way this project is being managed is hurting it. The leader meetings (where very important stuff is talked about) are limited to a select few people, generally those who happened to be here early. This is a problem because:

  1. It removes a huge part of being an open source project (allowing everyone to participate freely)
  2. Takes away people's voices. I personally feel like I don't have much of a voice in the direction the project goes, despite contributing a lot time and effort to it. It seems like everything that I want to have input on is talked about in the leaders meetings, which ONLY the leaders can participate in.
  3. It slows us down. Limiting how fast decisions are made based on when the leaders are available only keeps us from actually making progress.

@w4e:matrix.org@w4e:matrix.orgi can talk with all of the other leaders about allowing others into the leader meetings, think they would allow iit21:03:30
@w4e:matrix.org@w4e:matrix.orgjust talked with them, yes anybody can join and participate in leaders meetings21:08:42

  1. It unfairly represents the opinions of the leaders

Solutions:

  1. Open up the meetings to more people. I know that having a ton of people in one chatroom can get chaotic, but there won't be that many people as the project has just begun. This allows anyone to contribute their ideas to the conversation, and more ideas is always good.
  2. Remove the meetings. The project needs to keep momentum and actually create something as fast as possible. We can do this by having a chat for making decisions (probably general or something) and another place to keep track of all the decisions that have been made so far.

As zughy said, the project is overly bureaucratic. A project this small doesn't need more than a few key leaders, but we have 8 for some reason. As I said before, the leaders are generally people who got here first instead of people that can really help the project as a whole. I don't know how we should select leaders, but a vote that early in the project was not very good.

I think that we only really need one project coordinator (probably micro), a programming lead (not really a leader, but just someone who knows and understands the codebase and is available to help people), and a marketing/branding person to do marketing and branding (talking to journalists, marketing, whatever).

I don't think that leaders should have a disproportionate say in the project right now, so these leaders/people would not have more power/authority than a regular Joe, they would just help organize and keep track of stuff.

@the2ndreal0:matrix.orgthe2ndreal0I personally like solution #2 more than #121:13:46

@w4e:matrix.org@w4e:matrix.orgWe can definitely try to open up the meetings, but I am personally against 221:19:50
@nicemicro:matrix.orgNice MicroThe problem is, that without proper division of power, everything is just chaos21:19:57
@nicemicro:matrix.orgNice MicroI do greatly appreciate your insight though21:21:01
@nicemicro:matrix.orgNice MicroWhy we have separate game design team and programming team for example is that I don't think it would be ideal if what ends up in the game would depend solely on what some random dude decides to write a code for21:22:31
@the2ndreal0:matrix.orgthe2ndreal0I agree that it would be more chaotic, but if we improve the organization of the project (keeping track of what has been decided on) it will be manageable. The project was doing fine before we had leaders after all. 21:22:57
@nicemicro:matrix.orgNice MicroTrue, the teams are not functioning efficiently yer21:23:16
